This is such an amazing zoo! Between the surroundings and the zoo attractions, it is worth to spend time in the GDL traffic to get there. They offer a variety of additional things to do in the zoo, like the sky zoo where you get to see the zoo from a skyline, a train that takes you through the zoo. Definitely do the Safari, you get to feed a giraffe! They have also a monkey land and you get to see the monkeys up close. The surroundings are simply amazing and the Parc is really big. Very good way to spend a few hours. Try going during the week, it will be of course less packed and you get to see the animals.

Guadalajara Zoo has a cable car, panoramic train, restaurants, soda fountains, wheelchair rentals, rental of strollers, first aid, free Wi-Fi, parking, photo montages, tattoos, shark diving, special events and souvenir shops where one could buy animal trivia.

I was surprised by how good this zoo was and how clean the animals cages are and how much space they have except the hyena and the coyotes. The monkey house was worth the price of admission and the tropical area was also well done. I would include the Masai Mara pert in the regular admission price and just up the general admission price a little. You can also get tyer

Went here with a friend who lives in Guadalajara as something different to do (I have visited Guadalajara many times and never visited this zoo). I was very pleasantly surprised at how good this zoo was. The animals are presented in a more natural environment (not behind bars like some zoos). There's an excellent train ride and sky chair lift (highly recommend the sky chairs) where you can get alternative views of the animals. Monkey exhibit allows you to interact closely with some monkeys. They have baby penguins which are adorable. You can enter a plastic cage and swim with sharks (didn't try) at their aquarium. Totally worth it and there's a bus from downtown which takes you straight there so, easy to get to. La Barranca (this canyon, natural area) is right next to the zoo and breath-taking!

I tend to avoid zoos because the idea of seeing animals in captivity does not appeal. It took my husband some convincing to go - and am I happy that I went! What a beautiful, well-organized, clean space in the middle of the large, cosmopolitan Guadalajara! The animals look happy and they are treated so well. Even birds are housed in "casitas" that are impressively well kept and large for a bird house :-) The lions roam around a huge yard around their cave. There are lots of interesting animals and birds from around the world to marvel at, including a sizeable colony of monkeys that play happily in a natural and man made habitat. We enjoyed a tasty hamburger for lunch at one of the restaurants on the premises to keep us going. There were lots of families visiting with babies and young children, too. People of all ages enjoy the Guadalajara zoo.
