We spent a week at this hotel in August 2017. We have been to many all inclusives in this range (Secrets, Dreams, Iberostar etc) but this was our first time with this chain. Not sure I would stay with this chain again....

THE GOOD

-The property is absolutely beautiful. From the well appointed lobby with the stunning ocean view, to the beautifully decorated restaurants, modern rooms, and gorgeous outdoor spaces, this resort is aesthetically pleasing on all fronts. Each room has a stunning ocean view of the south coast.

-Housekeeping was great, our room was cleaned well every day, mini bar restocked, and turn down service offered each night.

-Breakfast buffet was great from a variety perspective, there was something for everyone.

-Desserts are phenomenal, whoever is in charge of pastry here is very creative, talented, and made my week. Had dessert every night, and we normally wouldn't!

-Jonathan, the server at the pool in front of the north tower was wonderful! All of the bartenders at the pool bar also worked hard.

-Julio on the entertainment team was very friendly and engaging and also professional. We just loved talking to him!

-Jose and Luis at breakfast buffet were hardest working guys we saw - thank you!!!!

-Mojito lounge and rooftop bar are wonderful places to pass time in the evening.

THE "MEH"

Food is okay, not great but not bad - they are very creative and try to be gourmet (loved some of the things we tried) but overall they fall short on execution. Food was often served lukewarm or over/under-cooked. Portions were modest which we didn't mind. Rojo Corazon and Julietta were our fav restaurants.

Beach is gorgeous to look at, a little rocky so bring water shoes, not much room to walk around but it is private, secluded and again, gorgeous. There wasn't much going on down there (service, palapas etc) so we spent most of our time by the pool even though we are normally Ocean people. Kayaks are free to use, paddle boards cost $25 to rent.

THE BAD
This resort falls short of Secrets/Dreams and even Iberostar on all other aspects, which really surprised me considering the price we paid to stay here. Here's why:

-Service was poor overall and most staff were very mechanical other than those named above. Not many smiles, and it was common to see some hostesses/bartenders on their cell phones "hidden" under napkins. Maybe that is just the world we live in now.

Our experience at Secrets is high quality service by friendly and engaging people - not the case here. for example at breakfast We often had to wait for first coffee...then cream....then cutlery....I think it is a process issue! I don't believe they set the staff up for success. Lots of managers walking around scowling - my husband noticed the ratio of managers to staff is much higher here than any other all inclusive we have been to. So many managers walking around not lifting a finger, but then they expect servers to do things bus boys or hostesses would do in other hotels. So it limits the servers ability to actually serve you.

I had some real concerns with cleanliness, especially how they "washed" cups at the pool bar and mojito lounge. Dirty cups quickly wiped with a dirty rag and barely rinsed out before being filled up and handed back to a different guest. Not uncommon for coffee cups to be dirty at breakfast.

Bathrooms in common areas were pretty gross - again, I know it is hard to keep these clean but haven't seen them this bad at other resorts.

We were in the elevator once and they were transporting food for "a fancy dinner" - plates were not covered, and guests who had just come from the pool were literally dripping dirty pool water right on the dinner cart!!!

One of the pools started to get very murky during our stay which I hadn't seen happen before, I was happy they had two and that one was clean.

Overall, The views here are wonderful but if you are someone who really appreciates great friendly, extra mile service I would recommend Secrets Vallarta Bay or Dreams over this resort (they are also gorgeous hotels).

Adults only...need I say more? The staff at this resort makes you feel like you are their only guest every day all day. Julio, Juan and Sara from the activities staff kept us very entertained and made our trip very memorable! The selection of activities was great and we enjoyed all the beach activities available. Alfredo and Luis from the bar staff made sure our drinks were never empty and smiled the whole time! The location of this resort couldn't be better. The sunsets were amazing every night! The only thing keeping this place from a 5 star review in my eyes is the lack of organization in the restaurants. Our wait times were excessive regularly and we were served the wrong dishes on more than one occasion. But the good outweighed the bad by so much, we would love to return!

Room Tip: All rooms are ocean view. Upgrade to get higher up.

Went there as a graduation trip with our girls. A bit of difficulty with check in as our rooms were not right and were spread all over the hotel. They were able to fix it for subsequent days, but definitely a hassle and really weren't good about offering anything to make it right. Other than that it was a great place. The servers in all the restaurants went out of their way to provide great service. Lots of food, but after a while it seems repetitive. The buffet had made to order omelette that were fantastic. Juan worked many of the activities and was great fun - he seemed to be everywhere and always with a smile on his face and ideas for things to do. If you are looking for a quiet getaway this is not for you, but if you want a nice resort right on the water with a party atmosphere this is great.

The hotel is less than two years old and is in good condition, the facilities are good and the service is excellent you don't have to move from your sun lounger as the waiters will serve you food and drink. The restaurants and the food was top notch the staff are so friendly and can not do enough for you.Every evening their is a good level of entertainment, their are many bars i.e sky bar/martini lounge/tequila lounge/mojito lounge/main lounge. We hired a cabana (four poster sun lounger) on two occasions which came with a foot massage and champagne.Kayaks, paddle boards are available free of charge the beach is clean and the pacific was like a bath, it was the rainy season but only rained at night. The drinks were branded and served in pint sized classes and no limit, we went on five trips out door adventure/hidden Mexico/sunset sail/off road adventure and city tour. The only negative was the hotel try to sell you their VIP club otherwise my experience of this hotel was amazing they should be very proud of their staff they certainly know how to look after people I loved it.Their is a safe and a mini bar which you don't pay for as its all inclusive.

Room Tip: All rooms have a balcony and a sea view

Hotel was a good value overall without really wowing in any one area. Hot and humid with lots of outdoor dining options that were intolerable in august heat.
The food: normal buffet offering was mostly blah. Best thing to say about it was that it was air conditioned. Great Mexican casual spot served delicious tacos to order every night. The two restaurants that require reservations were both decent.
The layout of the hotel is a little unusual requiring going up and down in elevators to get between bars and restaurants in different towers. The upside is that all the rooms face the ocean and have great balcony views. Also most the bars and restaurants are high up in the buildings so the all have good views as well.
Biggest downside was the hotel seemed very loud at night. The hallways are tiled floor and the room service carts run clattering back and forth all night. Also, as the restaurants and bars are scattered around the hotel on the same floors as the rooms there is a lot of foot traffic on some floors.
We did one two tank dive through the hotel and other than having to take a 15 minute taxi ride to the boat pick up everything was fine. There are piles of rocks placed as breakers in front of the hotel to protect the beaches. They block any waves but also made the beach very swimmable. The barriers also serve as mini reefs and there was good snorkeling around them. However if you want to snorkel bring your own mask because the hotel didn't have them (we wore our dive masks and were asked by at least a dozen people if they were available from the hotel.)
Old town was a 100 peso taxi ride away. It never took more than a couple minutes for a taxi to arrive and they are easy to hail from town back to the hotel. We brought only US dollars and never had any trouble. Any change from a purchase is given in pesos but the exchange rate was always reasonable.
Nightly entertainment was well done and fun to watch but held in the heat of the open air lobby.
In all I think we would go back but probably not in august.
