We wanted a little get-away from our hotel in Old Vallarta, so we hopped a local bus for about a buck apiece and went up to the Marina area. Plenty of sightseeing along the way and a nice walk around the Marina. All very clean and safe. The service was excellent, food above average and the margaritas superb. To get back we just walked a couple blocks to a bus stop and caught a return bus after only about 15 minute wait. Great change of pace for us.

We went today to the RocknRoll Diner for a late lunch.

It is located at the Marina (Plaza Marina) where one can drool over numerous boats that include 60 to 90 foot yachts.

The beer was 6 in a bucket for 99 pesos and the menu included a large number of salads, burgers, semi-american dishes like a bowl of chili and nachos etc.

We has the cobb salad (my wife) and I had the mahi mahi burger with fries.

The cobb salad was quite large and contained bacon, blue cheese crumbles, lettuce (of course),chopped boiled egg, tomato, chicken, avocado etc with a sort of mild mustard vinagette dressing. She ate it all and we were both surprised that she did so.

The mahi mahi was quite thick and grilled not pan-fried in my burger and came fries. Garnished with tomato, lettuce onions etc. it was also topped with mexican melting cheese and some dill pickles on the side.

We enjoyed the food and the cold beer and expect to return. Did I mention the 50/60s decor and classic rock and roll playing in the background, including Elvis et al ?
