“Awesome place to stay”

If you want to be within walking distance of everything then stay at villa vista del sol. Room 104 is a great value. I would not hesitate to stay here again. It has a limited view of the ocean but other views are only steps away. The condo was fabulous and had everything we needed. The people who work there were always willing to help. Again this was an awesome location and a gret place to stay. Thank You, Greg and Detra

“Wonderful trip, wonderful condo!”

Just returned from a 10-day stay in unit #104 and had a fantastic trip (wish we were still there :-).

All the previous reviews are spot on: location is great (right on the beach and malecon, heart of "Zona Romantica"/Old Town), service at the building was outstanding (can't say enough good things about Lety, the maid for the unit--love her! and all the front-desk staff). We felt extremely safe and secure, both in the building and in the unit itself. The rooftop pool was terrific: clean, quiet and a great relaxing spot after walking around town.

Booking the unit couldn't have been easier, and got excellent (and fast!) communications with the owner when we had questions both before and during our stay. All the furnishings were clean and well-appointed, and all the appliances worked flawlessly. Internet was great, as were the flat-panel TV's (there's even a DVD player with a few movies, if you're so inclined, plus there's a Blockbuster up near the hotel zone if you want to rent).

Couple of things to note that I didn't see in any write-ups or reviews. None of these things were deal-breakers (we're going to come back if we can, and as soon as we can!), but I personally value having as much info about a place as I can before I go. So, in that spirit and no knocks against the unit, here goes:
1. A/C is limited to units in each of the 2 bedrooms. I recommend opening the patio slider and leaving the front door open (with the gated door closed) to allow the breeze to blow through the main living space. Only had a couple windless days where it got a little warm in there; most of the time it was just right.

2. It was pretty cool at night, so thinking we would be eco-spirited, we tried to leave the bedroom window and patio slider door open, but the noise from the street was just too much. The building is at the end of the street (the beach and boardwalk are the only thing between the end and the ocean!) but unfortunately, many cars didn't know that, and would drive down there, only to have to try to turn around and go back. It's a very narrow street, so the "back-and-forth" backing and filling of turning around, the honks and sometimes people talking/giving directions seemed like they were in the room with us. As fantastic as PV is, you can't say their vehicles are the same grade as in the US--it seemed as if mufflers and suspension lube were optional for many of the cars coming down our street.
To mitigate this seemingly negative feature, there was an extremely simple remedy: close the window and turn on the A/C unit. Even in Fan Only mode, the "white noise" it produced pretty much made sleeping a breeze and masked all the outside noise completely.

3. An extremely minor quibble: we cooked a lot in the unit and really appreciated the full stove/oven, but there's not a sharp knife to be found amongst the large selection of utensils--there were 5 or more cooking knives, but even the serrated ones were a little tricky to cut tomatoes with. Again, minor: if you take advantage of the gazilliion great restaurants and vendor carts within 5 minutes of the unit, this wouldn't even be an issue. If you're cooking, and don't feel like taking the bus or taxi up to the Mega or the Walmart, there's a good-sized Ley grocery store just past the far end of the Malecon (just walk to the Hotel Rosita end and keep going straight for a few blocks). We walked it, but it might be a tad far for a full-blown stock-up visit to walk (but the taxi ride would be cheaper!)

I recommend this unit highly to anyone who wants get a full PV experience. We really got a chance to get a feel for the city and the people and what it would be like to live here--so much so, that by the end of the week, when we saw the buses pull in with the cruise passengers on it, we smiled smugly to ourselves about how we "lived" there and they were only visiting!
