I have been going to the halfway house for 15 years now. Johnnie is an awesome chef and a very kind fellow. I am chuckling at some of these other reviews complaining about price. In my opinion, Johnnie is a world-class chef. He is trained in French and Spanish cuisine and also has taught other chefs. We consistently go there as a group of 4 and spend about $100 on a meal with appetizers, steaks or fish and salads, or $25 per head. For the exceptional quality of the food, I'm not sure what price people are expecting.
Unlike some stuffy 4-star restaurant in San Diego, the atmosphere is relaxed and casual, but the food is every bit as good. The ocean views are stunning. This is the perfect place for a date, a family outing, or a group of friends to get together. The service is absolutely exceptional. I highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Northern Baja.
