It's far from beach but location is amazing. It's very peaceful and they have hourly shuttle service towards the beach. Rooms are huge and mine had a pool + cliff view close to restaurant.
Food is ok.. Their tour packages are slightly costly as compare to usual packages which you can get from Beach side.

The „Aonang Phu Petra Resort“ is a lovely Hotel in the middle of the carstic formations of Ao Nang. It has a very nice pool and the rooms have a great terrace where you can relax listening to the tropical birds (it would have been nice to have chairs which an adjustable back, not one with a fixed position). The air conditioning in the rooms had problems with the cooling and it gets hot and stuffy around 3 to 4 o‘clock a.m.
The breakfast buffet had a large selection of boring things, the best being white toast (!) with butter and orange jam (it would have been nice to have fresh pad thai or a fresh noodle soup instead of an egg cooking station).
Service was very friendly (english language skills could be better).
A good hotel to wind down.

My partner and I spent 1 week here early february. The location is truely stunning with a backdrop of cliffs and lots of lush foliage around the pool. The rooms are fabulous with a huge comfy bed and large bathroom. The staff are amazing. Friendly warm and welcoming.

Its in a convenient location with an hourly shuttle into Ao Nang. It is possible to walk it in 20 minutes but we found it too hot in the afternoon to do so but we did walk back in the evening a couple of times.

The breakfast was lovely with a combination of Thai and western food.

We will definitely be booking another trip there either later this year or early next year. I could not recommend it highly enough. Many thanks to all the staff who made our stay so memorable.

First of all, weather was great despite the weather forecast saying thunderstorms etc (it rained 30 minutes the entire week we were there). We booked from the hotel's website, about 338$ for 3 nights (Jan 30), including hotel pick up from airport. We arrived at 7 am and were able to leave our bags in their storage area. We got lucky and our room was available at 11 am.
Staff was great. Pool is not so big but clean and setting is very pretty with the cliffs. The breakfast was very basic, omelette/waffle station a plus.
The rooms are bungalows attached. We had room 104: very spacious, clean with a lovely patio overlooking trees. AC was ridiculously loud.
The location is far. Yes it is a very long walk to get to the main road and then another 20 minute-walk to get to the beach. They provide a shuttle which takes you to the McDonald's on the main AoNang St. Problem is the last one leaves back to the hotel at 9:20 pm - too early for us. Alternatively though, a Tuk Tuk was 150 baht at night back to the hotel and 200 baht from the hotel to the main St at night.
We liked that it was a bit far from everything... and based on the state of other hotels we came across in the area, this one is one of the best.
We liked that the hotel helped book tours for you as well at going prices (800 baht per person for a 4 island tour, 450 baht per person for a ferry to phi phi island etc).

My parents and I were booked in to phu Petra at the start of our Krabi holiday. We were escorted to two separate rooms by two lovely trainees. Phu Petra is a lovely hotel, but suffers slightly in comparison with our next hotel, Ban Sainai.

There are many things to commend phu Petra:
Hospitable, welcoming staff
Reliable, regular shuttle to town
Lovely comfortable pool area
Large rooms and bathrooms
Tasty breakfast
Adjacent to the amazing Beer Garden restaurant
Short walk to the top of town

If I had not visited ban Sainai, I would not be raising these points. However, the rooms are semi detached, so we both had neighbours each side of our rooms. The grounds are not as spacious or well tended (although the setting is still very lovely). The bedrooms are darker and my parents room overlooked the cleaning/service area entrance, underneath the pool.

The phu Petra serves alcohol and pork products, which certainly will give it the edge over ban Sainai for some. Also they were very kind to shuttle us across to our next resort free of charge.
