We stayed here for a two night family break in April 2012, booked by phone with the Macdonald central booking office. We obtained dinner, bed and breakfast for all four of us for £102 per night as part of an Easter offer, which was very good value.
We had a fantastic time, but were initially put off a little with the size and decor of our room. It was a family room but designed for a family of three, so we had to have a camp bed for our youngest daughter aged 8, which she was fine with. The decor is very 1970's and desperately needs re-furbishing in both the bathroom and bedroom. It was clean and served its purpose.
However, when the hotel really started to shine was at dinner. The food is outstanding. We eat out a lot and it is not just great for a hotel, but would hold it's own against most good restaurants. We were given £25.00 each to use on the a la carte menu, and this also included both our children. The menu is very comprehensive and hard to fault. The scampi even looked as though it once swam in the sea, having a tail attached, rather than the questionable mush you get in most restaurants. The service, while not overly friendly, was very efficient and professional. Ingredients seemed very fresh and the breakfast was equally good, cooked to order and had a huge choice of fruits, cereals, meats, cheeses, fish and the usual full english option.
The drinks were sadly very expensive for a 3 star hotel. A 250ml glass of the cheapest red wine was £7 and a double vodka and coke was £9, which is a little steep. Fanta for the children was £2.40 a glass, which is more expensive than beer! We had an issue with the food tariff which we had to sort out, as they were trying to charge us extra for the childrens meals. This was sorted with the minimum of fuss.
The location is excellent being only five minutes walk from the center of Lymm, with plenty of secure parking. The bar area and lounge is modern and clean, with a beautiful grand piano and large bar. A wedding took place on the Saturday night, and we never heard a thing from our room which we were pleasantly suprised about.
This would not be a place to choose for a special romantic weekend away, but for a quick family break at a reasonable price, it more than suffices. Don't expect a boutique style room with a flat screen TV as you will be disappointed, but in life you tend to get what you pay for and for the price we paid this was a very enjoyable, quiet and pleasant place to stay. Thank you to all the staff concerned.

Sayed for thet NECC Spring trade fair double bedroom tiny and very shabby . Toilet really dirty. Splashes and dirt round toilet seat and towel rail next to pan dirty from splashes from pan. Round the sink taps disgusting with old slimy dirt. House keeping very poor, brass door panels filthy. Shame as its a lovely location. Food was excellent as good quality produce and staff are so nice . Have used MacDonald Hotels in past and have always been good. This was a dissapointment

I was a bit disappointed when I arrived as I was expecting more of a grand entrance from the photos. The building is still lovely but it's not visible from the road.
The room seemed a bit small at first but was very clean and had lots of windows. The decor is a old, as many people have mentioned, and could do with some freshening up but I wasn't planning on moving in permanently so not too much of an issue. The room was well heated & the bed much more comfortable than the Ramada.
The food was delicious and room service was very quick.
Lots of space for parking, very friendly & helpful staff, nice location.
