Thanks to Bea and her husband who made us very welcome with all the home from home amenities in this rural and quaint village. We will cherish the Carrick book you gave us as a memory of our stay. Lots to do in the area including plenty of walking, visits to the beach, Robert Burns Museum (my wife wanted to learn more about her ancestor) and in reach for the Glasgow Science Centre which the children loved - particularly good on a rainy day!

The walks around this area are excellent. I particularly like Dalcairney Falls near Dalmellington which are lovely and a great spot for a picnic. We have a small selection of books to assist visitors with family history research and hope you found these useful.

We had a fantastic 5 night stay at Holly Tree Cottage. The cottage its self was very well maintained, exceptionally clean and had everything you could wish for. The owner Bea very friendly and helpful. Lots of info about the area and places to visit. The villiage was also lovely. Nice park for the kids.

The cottage is a great getaway from which to explore the local area. It is well equipped with pots, pans, local information, towels, bedding etc. it has a lovely log fire with plenty of wood and kindle provided. There are also extra heaters in the bedrooms to keep the house warm. Bea is very friendly and welcoming. She told us of a local waterfall which was incredible and close to loch doon which was also stunning. On the road where the cottage is situated there is a local pub and cake shop. The locals are very friendly. When you step out of the cottage you are greeted with beautiful hills and scenery. Overall we loved our short stay at the cottage and will definitely be returning soon! Thanks Bea!

Glad you enjoyed your short stay, and look forward to welcoming you back to Holly Tree soon. There are now ospreys nesting at Loch Doon and, hopefully, they'll be back in the spring to raise another family. Dalcairny Falls are stunning (which you visited), we also have Stinchar Falls nearby and some beautiful waterfalls along Lady Hunter Blair's Walk which starts from the village.
