The Highwayman is in walking distance from the Oxford Airport terminal, situated on a canal bank with a large garden.
It's pretty rustic in the bar, which makes the rooms quite a surprise. Fresh, spotlessly clean, spacious, and well fitted including a lavish bathroom with whirlpool bath and shower
By comparison, the meal was a little disappointing. (Maybe the signs outside trying to recruit kitchen staff should have alerted me). Pub grub was expected and delivered, but the waiter, about five minutes after the order was taken, returned with an apologetic "I'm sorry, but we can't do the sausage and mash, we've run out of mash". This was a little depressing. Lots of real ale; pity I was flying early the next morning. Excellent free wi-fi.
So, to sum up, if you want somewhere comfortable to stay when using Kidlington as a stop-over I'd have no hesitation in recommending The Highwayman as long as your food expectations aren't too high. (My gammon egg and chips was perfectly fine.)
