A spacious villa with a nice pool and views of Sivota bay & harbour. The property is well laid out with good sized living space & bedrooms, a spacious patio area by the pool, nice upper floor outdoor dining area and good Aircon.

The villa could do with some updating & the view is currently a bit spoilt by a new villa in construction (builders fortunately not currently working on it). When finished it’s unlikely to make the view materially worse but it was a bit unsightly when we were there and we were not warned about it by the company we booked with. Having spent £2,500 for a week and read the property description with words such as “amazing view” this understandably left us feeling disappointed. The week was enjoyable and there is a lot to like about Mastiha but we also had some other frustrations with the property.

On arrival patio doors would not lock or fully shut. These were fixed quickly when we pointed them out. The showers / bathrooms were poor. Shower heads were old & water went in several directions. The mattresses in bedrooms 2 & 3 were low quality and uncomfortable with stiff springs making it difficult for the kids to sleep and leading to aches the next morning. Given the COVID situation, rather than ask for different mattresses we eventually put a blanket under the bottom sheet to soften the effect.

The Aircon was great but the villa book told us not to use it other than before bed and for 30 mins during the night. I agree that Aircon should only be used if needed but as Northern Europeans not used to high night time temperatures this restriction came as a surprise.

Comments in the visitors book clearly show that many people love the villa but our experience was a bit underwhelming given the price paid. We believe it’s right to share our experience here to give a balanced view.
