The villa is located in a small village at the end of an unadopted lane which goes down a hill to the sea and a quiet pebble beach. This is one of only two villas in the same style and is surrounded by only a couple of villas which seem to be weekend homes. The villa is well equipped, very clean and design has been a key feature. There are two bedrooms downstairs and two upstairs including the master with a little wooden balcony. The upstairs bedrooms have spectacular sea views. We spent most of the time on the terrace and ate outside. The pool is beautiful and again very clean. Wi-fi is good. This villa is a perfect Summer home for younger adult groups and younger couples and by that, I mean people who are reasonably fit as the hill and steps to the front door and pool ladder are a consideration. As the villa shares the lane with a few other properties and car hire is essential, I would recommend hiring small cars as parking in Greece is very much left to your own devices. However, I found driving easy and the other drivers unusually courteous and patient. We left our car at the top of the hill in the village and walked down when parking was an issue. Pogonia is a very sleepy little place but Paleros is a short drive and has beach bars and restaurants and a good supermarket and bakery. It isn’t a big town but that is its charm. We liked the Yacht Club and Dionysus for a drink or eating. A drive into Lefkada Town for a mooch around the shops and then a drink or meal in the square is nice. Shops shut in the afternoon and open again in the evening so get there about 6.30pm. There are good car parks if you take the road to Nidri on the far side of the harbour. Don’t forget to stop when going around a roundabout as people coming onto the roundabout from the right have right of way. Finally, the Greek people - they made our holiday. Everyone was friendly and most helpful especially the villa team. This is a lovely holiday for those wanting to avoid the mainstream and looking for sun, sea, comfort, good food and a bit of away time.
