“Wow - what a place!!! Cannot recommend highly enough”
Reviewed 4 January 2014 for a stay in January 2014

This place is fantastic. Form the beginning we were greeted warmly by the owners who took us to the property, extremely thoughtful. The house is exquisitely decorated and finished. Beautiful antique furniture, tasteful decoration, wonderful paintings throughout the house. The twin bedroom has an extra 'day bed' and lots of brand new perfectly kept toys ideal for the children. A whole library of books for adults and children upstairs. The kitchen is modern and spotless. The two bathrooms are very nicely finished and comfortable.
The woodburning stove in the living room burns for hours and gives off a wonderful heat. There is a woodshed with logs and coal available also. The utility room has a brand new washing machine and dryer, iron, ironing board, laundry basket. The kitchen has all the utensils and equipment that you can want - scales, sieve, whisk, trays, multiple earthenware bowls and dishes.

The views are fantastic and we went on a lovely walk to the rear of the property, no need to get in the car. Wifi reliable too....

We absolutely loved this place. In the words of my husband 'his is the nicest holiday cottage that I have ever seen!' - I second that. Highly recommend this place for a stress free stay in a place better equipped than home.

Wow to you too! We worked so hard to make the cottage the type of place we would like to stay, make it interesting and yet honour it's history as a shepherd's cottage. It's great to know you enjoyed your stay and appreciate our work.

“Just Perfect !”
Reviewed 1 January 2014 for a stay in December 2013

A beautiful cottage away from it all - We stayed for 3 nights between Christmas and New Year on our way back home from spending Christmas with family in the south. Lots of thought has gone into the furnishings and the comfort of this cottage. It was such a nice change to stay somewhere that was not 'everything Ikea'. The location is fantastic and if you are as lucky as we were to have a clear night, then the stars are just amazing as no city lights. Apologies to Anne for the dogger's muddy footprints in the porch - perhaps a big doormat ! A great place - we will be back.

“Excellent place for an escape from the city!”
Reviewed 30 December 2013 for a stay in December 2013

I stayed at the cottage for 4 nights and I was more than impressed with what this cottage could provide.

The host kindly provided me with the visitors book when I arrived for the guide around the cottage which includes the history of the cottage itself. The inside of the cottage is well renovated and equipped with all facilities needed for a comfortable stay.

The cottage has 3 bedrooms with 2 modern bathrooms. The rooms are very neat and clean and I have never slept so well because the surrounding is just so peaceful! The living room is very cosy with good supply of logs for the fireplace and there are TV, books, and board games available to use. There is Internet connection also available to use, but slow!

There is separate laundry room with brand new washing machine, dryer, iron and ironing board. The kitchen is very modern with 2 brand new cooktop ovens and large fridge. The host even given me a loaf of bread, milk, and butter for my stay. As a coffee lover I could never expect that this cottage actually provides a coffee machine! But you might need to buy your own coffee beans though.

The cottage is surrounded by peaceful nature and it's just a short distance from the closest town Peebles and Edinburgh is just one hour away by car. It's a perfect getaway!
