“Platinum Star Stay!!”

From the moment we arrived at St. Margaret’s cottage, it was love at first sight! The pictures on the website just don’t do it justice. It's even more gorgeous in person! We are a retired couple and rented the cottage for 3 months (late Aug-Nov) and before we knew it our time was over - our stay was far beyond expectations!. If we could give it more than 5 stars we absolutely would. Our hosts were just lovely and they took care of us really well - we can’t say enough about them. They were so kind and thoughtful throughout our stay.

At St. Margaret's you have the best of both worlds…secluded and quiet countryside (lots of sheep) while at the same time there is a view across the fields to the North Sea from the upper terrace. We spent many afternoons enjoying a cup of tea up there! Bliss! The cottage was really clean, had lovely homey touches, all the dishes and utensils one could possibly need, lots of towels, loads of hot water, underfloor heating in the bathroom, a gas fireplace for those quite chilly autumn evenings and, because of our extended stay and having a lot of luggage we were very pleased to see there was plenty of cupboard space and chests of drawers. We were also spoilt by the fact that the housekeeper provided us with clean bed linen every two weeks - such a lovely treat.

The location of the cottage was perfect for us and, because it was late autumn, it was very quiet and peaceful. We saw the Super Moon as well as plenty of "Dark Skies." Coldingham village is only a short 10 minute walk from the cottage down a country path, Berwick is 30 minutes by car (if you need anything from Marks & Spencer Food Hall and Tesco) and Edinburgh is about an hour away for major shopping, Royal Yacht Britannia and other sightseeing (fyi, parking is horrendously expensive).

St. Margaret’s cottage was wonderful - Malcolm and Sally have made it so. We have no hesitation in highly recommending this amazing cottage. We absolutely loved our time there - it was bittersweet to leave.

“Perfect Holiday Cottage.”

Beautiful cottage, very well equipped and very comfortable. Good location for the village only a short walk although the hill is very steep. The garden is beautiful and very well kept and the location is incredibly peaceful and very quiet. A good starting point for several local walks. The Wi-fi went down very well with our 11 yr old who was impressed it worked in the conservatory. We have stayed in several cottages in this area and this is my personal favourite.

“Excellent, well equipped, cosy cottage.”
Reviewed 12 April 2016 for a stay in April 2016

Cottage was clean, warm and cosy on our arrival. It is very well stocked with everything you could need, provided. The underfloor heating in the bathroom was welcome! Appreciated having mirrors near plug points - with 3 females in the party needing to style hair etc it was much needed :) Not really suitable for toddlers/young children as the stairs leading from the bedrooms might not be safe enough for any nighttime wanderings. An ideal base - quiet, away from it all but within easy reach of many towns and villages. Wifi connection was excellent.
Coldingham itself is a nice enough village - food at the New Inn was lovely. A coastal walk from St Abbs to St Abbs Head is well worth it. We also spent a day in Alnwick - lunch in Grannys (portions large but delicious); visit to Alnwick Castle and dinner in Oblo's in Eyemouth on the way back home (again delicious).
