“Nice overall ”
Reviewed 7 August 2017 for a stay in August 2017

This place is a cosy bolt hole to stay at if visiting Wales for the first time.Prime location as out of the way of the hustle and bustle of the towns but very close to the beach.
Parking is very tight in the lay-by and if you have a large car just pull it in tight as local buses and lorries come round bend a bit fast.
Arrived and very nice touch on the prosecco in the fridge and the Thornton little treats on the table.
The owners have clearly spent a lot of money on this place but some things are of no purpose such as a sideboard which you would expect to have perhaps some dvds or cards but contained nothing and the tall chest of drawers in the bathroom which was very attractive, but again served little purpose.
Minor niggles on arrival which the owner sorted out the following day - it was a sixty mile round trip for them so couldn't be sorted straight away which was a shame.
The kitchen had some nice touches and appeared hardly used.
Lovely features included were the Velux blind in the bedroom which has a remote to open and close and the shower which has duel controls inside and out.
Found the bed very hard but some may prefer a firm mattress.
Would have preferred two sofas instead of the sideboard. The feature of the room is definitely the log burner and you can get logs from the local shop which is much cheaper than most places in Barmouth.
The place has plenty to keep a techno geek happy as has nine controllers to turn on lights and use the TV's sound systems. Wasn't able to get the TV or music system to pair up unfortunately.
Overall nice place but needs user-friendly instructions for the technology and another sofa definitely.
One last tip is to definitely visit the Blue Lake just round the corner up the pathway and take swimwear but be warned: very very cold water.

“Luxury Cottage 'where the mountains meet the sea'”

My partner and I were looking to stay in a self-catered rental in Snowdonia National Park and found this renovated stone cottage on Trip Advisor. It was newly advertised with no reviews so we were a little apprehensive, but we contacted John and Joanne and they were very responsive, knowledgeable about the area, and answered all our queries. We booked in for 7 nights. J&J provided helpful information to aid our arrival, and we found the cottage (very near to train station) and gained entry with no trouble.

First impressions were 'Wow!'. The attention to detail in the cottage is remarkable. It felt like a home away from home. The furnishings were high quality and authentic, the sofa and bed were comfortable, the kitchen was well stocked with appliances, and the view looked out onto a neighbouring field with horses. We had been left a folder full of detailed information on the cottage, area, things to do, and local amenities, as well as some little welcome treats. The cottage was warm, bright, and immaculate. Special mention must go to the wonderful bathroom, with free standing bath and rain shower. It was a pleasure to return from days out and long hikes to a deep hot bath.

For the evenings in, the TV in the lounge and bedroom was great (both HD) and the WiFi was reliable and fast. The dining area is a nice touch and we ate many a meal there. We also enjoyed sitting in the garden with a glass of bubbly on a warm evening, and admiring the plants and flowers. There is a mini-mart and off-license as well as a chippy in Fairbourne, so we were never without holiday indulgences. Indiana Cuisine is well worth a dinner reservation!

We cannot overstate just how good the location is. We were five minutes walk from the train station, about fifteen from the beach, and ten to being right in the scenic Snowdonia National Park. There is easy travel up and down the coast on the reliable Arriva trains, and there are many walking routes that pass through Fairbourne, the idyllic Welsh Coastal Path being chief among them. We felt fortunate to have such a modern yet cosy base in a country setting.

I highly recommend this cottage to anyone (couples and hikers especially) who wants to escape to the blissful Welsh coast, but is looking for something a bit special. A homely and high quality cottage that you will want to return to.
