I was taken on a private trip to the light house with two teens 17 & 15. We loved the light house and went to the top to see the crazy view. It scared me a little since one of my teens is very clumsy and I could imagine him falling off the top...very pretty and in pretty good condition! Wish they extended the tour and history on this location since there are fort ruins you can see when on top of the light house. We walked down to the caves after this, pretty cool!

... and better choose a day with not too much sun. We already visited the southern part of the island by bike, so this time we decided to head north. The Lighthouse offered itself as a point of attraction, and so we pedaled there. We also mounted the last stretch on the hill on our vehicle rented at the Club for half a day. We very much liked even the biking: There is almost no traffic on Queen Highway, the landscape changes, and car drivers always greet you with friendly hand signs. In our opinion this was an occasion to you see how people live on the island, and how they cope with the damage of the last hurricane in October 2015. We were short of water, but were lucky to find an open convenience store.

The lighthouse door was open, so we climbed the stairs and admired the lighthouse mechanics and optical system. The view proved to be revealing. Before we did not know that there are so many inland lakes. Altogether one of our best experiences on the island!

This was fun - a nice treat to see something outside of the resort and it even had a guest book that you could sign. We were able to climb up inside, too.

Great views. Must see if your in San Sal! My husband and I drove the whole island and stumbled across it. The climb to the top was adventurous.
