Just returned from the most fabulous week on Green Turtle Cay. The island is so beautiful with lots to do for the lover of the seas. Crystal clear water, sandy white beaches and lots of good snorkeling reefs just off shore. Coconut Cabana was a very comfortable place to stay. The king size beds were super comfortable, kitchen was well stocked to prepare meals, lots of towels and the boat dockage was great with fresh water at the dock. We enjoyed the amenities of the Bluff house resort - pool, beach area and restaurant. There is a bar next door to the house (mainly caters to the Bluff house marina and guest) where they have music a few nights a week (Tuesday and Thursday nights) but do shut it down around 11 pm. The only problem we had was the living room AC did not work. They came twice to fix but were unsuccessful. Hopefully they can figure out the issue before next renters come in. There were AC in each bedroom that did work. I would highly recommend Coconut Cabana for your vacation. We would stay again! Hopefully next year
Green Turtle Cay is an amazing island and Coconut Cabana, located at Bluff House, is a wonderful place to stay. Lets start with the house itself, its at the end of a quiet little street on a double lot. Plenty of room in the yard for the kids to play while everyone cleans up for supper. The dock was wonderful, the ferry dropped us right at the Coconut Cabana Pier so we didn't have to move luggage an extra time, and we kept our rental boat at the house vice a marina. The house was very clean and everything you could possibly need to get started was there. Please be a good steward of this and leave what you won't need to take home so long as it won't spoil. Things like laundry soap, dish soap, paper towels are much more expensive on an island so lets all help each other out a little. WIFI, laundry in house, and enough space to spread out made vacationing easy. We used the screened porch every night to play cards and just hang out.
Bluff house has two eateries both of which we frequented. The Tranquil Turtle is a beach/deck restaurant. The food was for the most part was very good, but the fried chicken at the Tranquil Turtle was amazing. Likewise, at Bluff House Restaurant, my 8 year old couldn't get enough of the Grouper Fingers. The Bluff House Restaurant has special nights like pizza night and on weekends live music. It also has a lovely pool and is an easy walk from Coconut Cabana (with a secret gate).
Green Turtle Cay is a laid back island. Don't bring too much and be ready to take your time and relax. I highly recommend both a golf cart and a boat for ease of movement, but neither are really necessary as Bluff House has all you need for a wonderful location. The people of Green Turtle are so friendly you will feel at home very quickly.
My husband went diving, shark diving, yikes! In spite of our own stubbornness that his shortie wet suit would be enough, they brought along (and he used) a full suit. We didn't go on any of Brendel's family trips, but they were highly recommended to us. We just prefer a slower pace to our vacations and try to minimize the amount of time we have to adhere to any schedule. Make a trip into town, let your kids play on the Basketball court and make friends. What a wonderful way to open up their world!
The owners of Coconut Cabana are great. They have on island support and are more accommodating then they should be. Communication was wonderful with them and they made sure anything that concerned us was completely addressed. I would rent from them anywhere in the world.
If you're considering Green Turtle Cay, please, seriously consider Coconut Cabana!
This was our third visit to Green Turtle Cay and our first time staying at Coconut Cabana. The house was spacious and had all the amenities we could ask for. It was so convenient to have the ferry drop us off and pick us up at the Bluff House. The air conditioning worked well and the beds were very comfortable. We always rent a boat so having our own dock was a real plus. Our daughter and son-in law joined us for one week of our stay and having the two master bedroom suites was perfect. We all had our own space but plenty of common space when we were all together. We ate dinner almost every night on the screened in porch. Great view of the boats in the sound.
If I had to think of something less than ideal it would be the distance to town. It was about 20 minutes by golf cart but I do believe the comforts of the house outweighed the distance.
Green Turtle Cay is a gem, very quiet and laid back. It really helps to rent a boat as there is so much to explore.
