Owner description: A museum showcasing artifacts from the life of Wyannie Malone, the founder of Hope Town.

In an old home in the very heart of Hope Town, the museum was certainly a labor of love for a number of people. Since it is housed in an old home of the era, an air of authenticy permeates that otherwise not be found.
Chock-a-block full of old pics, old artifacts, and well, lots of old stuff, this museum is a fun short stop and well worth the $3,00 admission

I waited till the weather was lousy, which was less than a day total out of six! Nonetheless, it is worth seeing this museum, as it gives some insight into the history and struggles faced by these islands. There was maybe a 20-minute video about some of the Bahamas, which was interesting as well as local exhibits. I'm not a museum person but like to get a little background of a place, especially one as charming as this.

Learn a bit about Elbow Cay's history. The loyalists, hurricanes, wrecking, and more! The staff is friendly, seems to be all volunteer and committed to the Cay. Your vacation will mean more to you after an hour here.

The museum is set-up like a Loyalist home but has a video room, shell collection, genealogy records & a gift shop. My favorite parts are the old photos of the locals and the harbour especially with the sea planes landed just outside the lighthouse. The museum is run by volunteers and is usually manned but if you ask at Ebb Tide across the lane, they can help find someone. They ask for a small entrance fee which is well worth it. The latest addition is the memorial garden just up the hill and on the ocean. A wonderful place full of colorful plantings and a beachside gazebo.
