We visited Atlantis over Spring Break (Late March 2018). My husband and I were traveling with our 12 and 14-year-old boys and always like to plan a day trip to see the local waters and do some snorkeling. There are lots of options out there – I am so glad we booked with Jean Philippe and Francois. It truly was an experience of a lifetime.
We had the most amazing day! We left around 9:30 in the morning. When we arrived at the boat it was fully stocked with water, Gatorade’s, sodas and snacks. We took a short 20-minute boat ride to our first stop – swimming with sea turtles off a small island. One of the guides snorkeled with us and helped us find where they were – we also swam in to check out the island. After snorkeling we got back on the boat and had some of the amazing snacks they had brought with for the trip (Fruit, breads, cheese, meats). As we were leaving we were lucky enough to spot 2 dolphins who were playing in the water – one of them swam very near the boat – a real treat for us and the boys who have never seen one in the wild! Our next stop was a cute deserted island. We swam and explored the amazing beach/views for a while before heading to our next stop – snorkeling. Now this was amazing. Both guides got into the water with us and we followed one of them and the other followed all of us (especially nice having 2 kids with us who are not very experienced snorkelers). We saw the most amazing fish and coral – the colors were just beautiful and the water was calm and crystal clear. We had some more of the snacks (basically lunch for us all). Jean Phillippe put 2 hammocks up on the front of the boat for our boys to relax in and my husband and I jumped back in the water for one more look. Then we were off to our next stop where we saw a Sting Ray. For our last stop we went to Rose Island to relax on the gorgeous beach and crystal-clear water. They even walked us over to see a boat wreck on the rocky part of the island.
We stayed at each spot as long as we wanted and they never seemed to be in a rush. They seemed to enjoy the day and showing us all the waters/beaches as much as we did! This private boat trip was the best “boat trip” experience we have ever had and was so refreshing to experience the amazing Bahamian waters and islands in this way instead of on a crowded tour where they are always in a rush! Some of the islands we were the only people at them. No footprints. Very cool. We will be booking again with them on our next trip to the Bahamas!
