The Aqua Cat and her crew delivered a 7 day live-aboard dive trip that exceeded my expectations. The boat was very clean and well organized, the food delicious, the crew were friendly and professional, and the diving was amazing. From Captains Ron and Jason to the dive masters, chefs, house mouse, and engineers, everyone was dedicated to making this a memorable and safe trip.
I highly recommend the Aqua Cat and her crew.
Obviously for a diving trip the most important thing is the diving and this cruise of the Exumas and Eluthera did not disappoint. Every single dive had plenty of interest and some were spectacular. We did 5 dives a day for four days (which included a night dive each day), 4 dives on the fifth and squeezed in 2 more on the morning of the sixth day making 26 dives in total for the week. There were plenty of other things to do for the non-divers, too.
The briefings were thorough and confidence inspiring, and included plenty of information on the sealife to expect. All the instructors/divemasters were genuinely enthusiastic and knowledgable about the fauna and environmental issues.
The company funds a marine biologist to cruise with the boat - she's doing very interesting research into how to rebalance the coral/algal mix on the deeper reefs and she was always happy to chat about her work and she gave a talk on it and Bahamian sealife in general on one of the days.
The cabins are comfortable and are serviced every morning while you are diving. The food was excellent and varied. All meals and drinks are provided except for the last night in port. Although they make it clear when you book that no meal is provide on the last night they don't say why - it's a stipulation of their licence with the Bahamian authorities in order to support the local economy.
All the staff are very friendly and attentive around the boat and on the dive deck, creating a great atmosphere.
We had a superb week and wouldn't hesitate in recommending this boat. It's great for novice, experienced and non-divers.
Because of the number of dives, I think it's worth getting nitrox certification. They offer this on board if you haven't time to get it beforehand.
My wife and i spent a week on the Aquacat and had a great time. The service level by all the staff was incredible. Everyone from the maintenance crew to the captain. Divemasters were very helpful both in and out of the water. We had to dodge around windy weather but the captain was able to put us on most of the high regard dive locations. Food was excellent. Great chef.
Jason took the folks on the Sea Dog to the island to explore the swimming pigs, thunderbolt grotto and many other island adventures for people who didn't want to do the 5 dives per day. Then there were the people who did all of the dives on the trip. All had a great time.
Had 1 week of liveaboard scuba diving trip in Exuma Cays.Overall we had very good visibility each time, though the reef creatures were not as plenty as expected. Still we saw many rays, lobsters, crabs, lion-fishes, sharks, etc. Night dives were even more fun.
Aqua Cat got a perfect team: great crew, spacious cabin, various food (different everyday). Everything got organized nicely.
Fantastic trip! We went in December over NY Eve and we were with a great group of people. Very attentive, friendly, knowledgable crew. Our first live aboard experience and a very nice nice way to spend a holiday.
Great diving, nice walls, beautiful coral. Awesome shark dive and great to experience a drift dive too!
We saw the swimming pigs and piglets which was a highlight - if this is an option for you on your trip then we would highly recommend it even if you have to miss a dive!
We really appreciate the effort the whole crew went to in order to make the trip memorable - thank you!
