So happy that you enjoyed the Island and Three Palms St John. Everyone who works at the Villa appreciate hearing of our reviews. Patricia and all of the cleaning crew, landscaping and of course Dave and Julie our wonderful Managers. Our walk to shopping and restaurants waterfront location is what so many travelers are looking for but our people really make the experience special. We look forward to seeing you again soon!
Sometimes you don’t want to post a review because, selfishly, you’d like to keep the secret to yourself. That’s the case for the Three Palms, a fabulous year round home that is available for vacation rentals. We booked it for the second half of January and it was ideal.
Right on the water, we could swim and snorkel just by walking past the hot tub (dive boats are a daily staple a few hundred feet offshore). It is about 10 minutes walk to anything downtown in Cruz Bay including all the restaurants and shopping. Hiking was a daily activity for us and it was great to be able just walk through town to the National Park headquarters and take one of the hiking trails upward for the views or across toward a beach. Although we did rent a car, the location allowed us to walk to everything except the beaches further away. I do not envy those who commute in on St John roads for dinner/drinks and then have to drive back in the dark!
The house is awesome! In the full kitchen, we made handmade pasta and sauce. There is a full size grille on the patio where we grilled chicken and fish. We had company come and go over the two weeks and several speculated on how to get the couches by the flat screen TV home with them. There is reliable Internet and a full line-up of Dish TV. Although we’re not big on air conditioning, it was greatly appreciated by our guests on hot days. Speaking of guests, there are three bedrooms upstairs and one off the kitchen; the house is large enough that no one ever felt they were lacking for space and privacy. This is a house that was built to live in and the details throughout the kitchen, baths and bedrooms show it. For such a long stay, it was great to have a full washer/dryer.
We were picked up at the ferry by the caretaker (Dave) who works next door and could not have been more helpful. The owners were terrific to deal with and everyone was very helpful with advice (this was our first trip to St John).
One of the best meals we had during our stay was at Ocean 362 for Sunday Brunch; just amazing! On the walk to and from town, there is a great open air bar, aptly named Drink, that has great drinks and service. There is a fabulous art studio (Coconut Coast Studios) that had a sunset reception while we were there.
Our only regret? Should have booked for a month.
This was our 6th trip to St John and we loved our stay at Three Palms. The house is large and modern and the views of the bay (with three palms) are beautiful. In past years we have stayed further away from Cruz Bay, so every trip to the grocery store involved driving down a steep mountain with three or four hairpin turns and a carefully planned list of items to buy. It was great to be able to get to town quickly for daily groceries, wine or pizza. Cruz Bay is so close to the national park beaches that it really is a perfect place to stay. The property managers, Dave and Julie, are extremely helpful and nice. When we had a minor issue with the upstairs air conditioning, Dave had an HVAC guy there the next morning (which was a Sunday) and it was immediately fixed. We enjoyed drinking our morning coffee while looking at the beautiful view and listening to the waves outside the villa. We snorkeled in front of the villa and saw some great fish and elkhorn coral. My 15-year-old daughter loved the room with the balcony and she took many selfies there! Thanks for a great week.
