“OMG!!”
Reviewed 8 February 2012

First of all, I want to say sorry to all the people who wrote a review trying to warn me about booking at this hotel. That being said, here's my thoughts to whom it may concern!
My sister and I stayed here for a week in january. Thought a 3.5 star rating would be ok/sufficient. The service desk/help wasn't really that friendly....the room: No waste basket in either the bedroom or bathroom....no fridge as said there would be, so had to call for one....AC unit dripping all over the floor....one lamp broken/didn't work, lightbulb piece hanging down....TV giving us trouble, had to call down to get that fixed....BUT here's the real kicker! We used the hotel phone to call our families with a CALLING CARD. At the end of the stay, we get the bill for extra expenses for $70!!! HUH? Well, NOWHERE does it say that you pay a fee of $1.50 to use the room phone, just by dialing 9 and the number (calling card)! So, basically we spent more money on those hotel fees than on the actual calling card!! Even though it was less than a minute of call time, we were still charged the $1.50. AARRGHHHHH....My advice, don't call out for pizza!

Though I learned that this property lost it's IHG flag, it is still a nice hotel. It is in the heart of the shopping area of Charlotte Amalie and great access to ferries. The hotel has some age on it and seemed all of its guest did too! No beach access but they have a shuttle with limited times they will take you to a beach.
My wife and I visited here in January 2012, we are in our mid 20's and probably were the youngest people there.

Room Tip: They have corner rooms that are suites #324 #334 are NICE big rooms.

Our stay at the Windward Passage was the only thing that went right for us when we were trying to get home from St. Thomas after the New Year's holiday. Without getting into the gorey details, we had a 3-day layover and were scrambling to find a hotel that could accomodate our family of 4, last minute, without costing a fortune. We were referred to the Windward Passage and they were able to take our reservation at the very last minute. What a lovely stay we had. The room was very clean and comfortable for us. The amenities were fine. The hotel is located in the middle of everything that Charlotte Amalie has to offer. They also offer a free shuttle to Magens Bay and a return trip!!!! My 2 boys enjoyed some time at the pool and we were able to bide our time nicely at the Windward Passage until our horrendous layover was over!! Many thanks to the Manager, Pat McGeown, who was very gracious to us during our stay with them! Thank you for everything!!! You will definitely enjoy your stay at the Windward Passage!

Room Tip: I'd request a room toward the back of the hotel. We had a view of Charlotte Amalie Harbor, but...

I chose this hotel because we only needed a two night stay before taking a ferry to BVI for our vaction. It was so much better than I exceted ! The service was very good, it had a room service, a bar and resturant, a waterview room, and was clean and decorated nicely. I was the only one at the pool bith times I went out to use it. It was very reasonable too - I did better calling direct.

We took the $2 safari bus on a tour of the island and stopped at a few beaches. My day started with room service which was delivered quickly. I'd stay here again in na heart beat!
