This fort it’s located in downtown, around 10 minutes by taxi from the harbour. When we arrived was closed but we took some pictures.
And one crazy thing: you will see chickens around the fort and others streets but I don’t know why.

Newly restored, a spot to add to your must see list. You can wander the various rooms and cells on your own, but having a tour guide would be a definite benefit to learn the history of the structure and the important role it played protecting the Charlotte Amalie harbor.

It's mostly empty. It used to be a prison. The architecture is interesting (very thick concrete walls) and the view from the top is good.

When we first walked into the fort we were a little underwhelmed. We spent the first 10 minutes just looking around the fort to the left. There is little signage in the fort and so its hard to get any real information from just looking at the structure. After looking around for a couple of minutes a tour guide who works at the fort came up to us and asked if we were ready for the tour. We of course said yes and we were not disappointed. Levi was full of information and was very well spoken. He answered all the questions my family had and was a real pleasure. He took us around to each part of the fort and even let us in some of the rooms that were more closed off. He Talked about how it was a fort but then turned into a prison. He said they were still adding things to the fort and were wanting to improve some things but overall he was great. Having been to many different forts I can say that this one was one of my favorites. It far exceeded Sumter in my opinion (mostly because it still looked like the structure that was built in the 1600s) The tour lasted an hour and was worth ever moment. If you get a chance to choose a guide, choose Levi. He is a great guide, full of knowledge, and has been to the states and loves to talk about his time there. My tour group was only the 3 people in my family so it was really nice.
