When doing your research for a home to choose for your island stay, the choices can be overwhelming. Whispering Winds was one of the few that hit every category for us. We loved the layout (2 bedrooms up, 2 bedrooms down), the comfortable furnishings and a spacious and well-equipped kitchen. There is also a guest cottage that has an additional bedroom and kitchenette, for those needing additional space. From the moment you enter the gated entrance, step through the double doors to the family room and then see that amazing water through the windows, you know you've picked the right home.
The home is right on a small, yet private, pebble and sand beach which we used quite a bit during our stay; the snorkeling there was really, really good. There's rock ledges, grass beds and old pier pilings that we snorkeled around and saw a variety of fish, lobster and amazing, vibrant coral, even more so than some of the beaches we visited. The water there was very calm as well and we had a great view of Buck Island off to the left. Since the Yacht Club was so close (we actually snorkeled there and back one day), we had a great view of passing sailboats, what a view!
The home is located a bit further East than what I had initially wanted, but it never felt too far from Christiansted, local beaches, the grocery store or restaurant options, maybe a 15 minute drive at most. There were a few minor items that I could point out, but certainly nothing that would stop me from not only recommending Whispering Winds to friends and family, but from staying there again myself; in all, a fantastic villa for our trip.
