“SOOOO Relaxing!”

If you want to get away from it all in a low key setting than this is the place for you. Dip your toes in the water and enjoy the potcakes ("dogs") that come right up to your door. The kids loved hanging with them and the local donkeys as well.

This is a place for the traveler who wants to unwind and make your own fun.

“Great - exactly as described”

Stayed for a week in the middle unit. Stay was great. Everything was exactly as described. Kitchen was well stocked. The bread, eggs, milk, water and orange juice were a nice touch. It would likely be too much work, but as I'm vegan, if I was traveling without someone who wasn't, I wouldn't have wanted those to go to waste - maybe a way to forgo the animal based items.

The view is the star and was so amazing (and exactly like pictures...never believe it until is see it!). I hardly did any reading because I couldn't stop from looking up!

Apartment and furnishing were not fancy, but were just fine and we were there for the view. Sound travels on the balconies, our neighbors were always quiet, so it was okay for us.

It was great to have the bikes provided. Easy ride to cruise center (bizarre but interesting experience to go there after a few days on Grand Turk) and Governors beach. Walk to Osprey for drinks!

Grocery - Quality Foods by do it center and even the small place near Pelican House were both walkable. E&R down by Bohio and near Cees were good - we liked them better than Cees. We didn't find groceries expensive compared to SF Bay Area. Fresh produce arrived on island Sunday and we shopped on Monday so that worked well for us. Groceries in Provo were much more expensive.

Grand Turk is one of the most beautiful and special places I've ever visited. So nice to slow down and enter another world.

“Perfect oceanfront home”
Reviewed 21 February 2017 for a stay in February 2017

Our apartment at Crabtree was everything it promised to be and more, even better than the photos: spotlessly clean, quiet, peaceful, right smack on the ocean and the sound of waves all day and night. With loving attention to every single detail. The space was a delight, full of light, beautifully decorated - things like billowing white cotton curtains instead of ugly miniblinds, all the colours - buttercup yellow, aqua, white - from dishes to quilts, to little touches of Caribbean decoration like sweet mermaids , shells, a few wooden birds. Just charming. I could move right in - it totally appealed to my sensibilities. Gentle, soft. Just the right furniture - wicker and bamboo - in just the right paces, and lots of soft lamps so you can avoid the overhead glare. Arelys, the charming and attentive local concierge, who you can call for help for whatever, on the cell phone provided.
Everything you could need to cook (which we mostly did) including colanders, pots, baking pans for casseroles - and the dishes - and even they fit in decor-wise too. Blues and whites. Abundant fans overhead, also AC in bedrooms when needed, though there are often strong breezes. Wide screen door to the shady veranda and the ocean..at high tide the ocean washed up to about 12 feet from the lowest step down to the soft sand beach.
Almost nobody walks by - 2 people a day? I took my beach chair - the canvas kind that has very short legs, and stuck it into the sand to sit on while the waves washed over my legs, and just sat staring at the incoming waves, wondering, which one is going to be the big one that hits me right in the face? such fun and keeps sand out of your bathing suit bottom.
And the potcakes Chase & Smiley, who, I discovered, actually belong to another home but prefer hanging out at Crabtree, sleeping on the nice soft warm sand. Hint: they don't like canned dog food in chunks - but do love tuna mixed with an egg and grated cheese, or pasty dog food in cans. They are smart as whips, bark at all who walk down the street (almost no-one) to defend their territory and protect YOU. We met Chase at the gas station one day. He's been seen at the Cruise centre.
We bought them a large bag of dog chow, accidentally left it outside, and the roaming burros, attracted by the smell, found it and had a grand time - they ripped it open and everyone, even the shyest, ate, Chase trying to bark them out the whole time. After that I bought cabbage, chopped it & kept it in the fridge for when they appeared - but they didn't. Finally I gave the cabbage to some guys riding horses to the cruise centre in the mornings.
We were barely aware of neighbours in other units, who were all as quiet as us - no blasting TV or other noise coming through the walls.
The only noise, at night, come from barking dogs sounding like they're having dog fights - but with next to nothing in the way of vets ( a new one has just arrived) there is always the problem of potcakes breeding - but that is the way it has alway been - there IS a very active potcake rescue on Provo. Sometimes at night I just just the window & used AC instead of ocean breeze.
Jack was our gentleman of a taxi driver to & from the airport. We rented a golf cart from Nathan's rentals - our battery conked out & he came right over to fix it & on our last morning came over with Jack in the taxi to collect the cart - lives near-by.
Even I, who was afraid to drive on the British side of the road, was fine, as there is barely any traffic.
Once you get to know your way around, you realize the island is only 7 miles long and 1 mile wide and though many streets appear to not have names, just ask anyone for how to get somewhere. Usually they don't know the names either, but you'll get there eventually. Like to find John's Ocean Breeze for cracked conch, you look for the guys playing dominoes under the tree.
Crabtree only 5 minutes from Duke St & the lower end of the old cobblestone village, also the closest grocery store, gas station & liquor store - all very close.
Gorgeous as Grace Bay is, on Provo, we now prefer Grand Turk and would come straight back to the Crabtree. Do not expect Tim's or Macdonalds, or fancy shopping, or thankfully, highrises - and I hope none of them ever appear on Grand Turk. Yes, it's a desert, lots of old buildings falling into ruins or destroyed by hurricanes, and almost no shade, but for reading and the ocean and truly getting away from it all, with total privacy this is the sweetest place to be.

“Very Relaxing!!!”
Reviewed 23 November 2016 for a stay in November 2016

Wow, this is an exceptional place to visit and stay if you looking to absolutely relax. If your looking to be pampered, spoiled and waited on hand and foot, go to a Sandals. If you want peace, tranquility and time to sit undisturbed by the ocean listening to the waves and reading a good book, this is the place for you. The property is in an amazing location. The island is laid back and the people are very nice. We rented a golf cart for 8 days and drove it all over the island. Grocery stores, restaurants and liquor store are all just a few minutes away. The resident pups are a real treat! I highly recommend Grand Turk and the Crabtree apartments. We will definitely be making a return trip in the future!

“Paradise is Crabtree, with the ocean roar and salina within breathing distance.”

Our trip was nothing short of perfect. Thank you so much, Jessalyn. We had a great time, each and every day better than the last. The clouds and rain predicted were a godsend! Not much for rain but the clouds probably saved us from massive sunburns. After walking to the store and almost melting on our way back, we rented a car for the entire stay which allowed us to see the island from top to bottom. Cracked conch and conch fritters became a household favourite. Grand Turk is a beautiful island. We never saw one person other than ourselves on the beach for our entire stay!! The apartment was perfect - lots of A/C and fans. Internet worked great. When we return, we will definitely be staying here again!!
