A seventeenth centre building that surely is a must to visit on the island of Nevis, there is so much great history to the hotel with a great deal of charm that make it a resturant to add to the not to be missed list.

The excellent waiter will fill you in on the detail and history of the place, needless to say the place has a very long list of regulars from around the world, we loved our dinner and it all made for a super night out, the place matches the reputation with tons of character and great decor matched with lovely interior.

Really good service, attentative warm and friendly although we generally reached the conclusion that whilst the food was very good, it isn't fine dining.

The Hermitage has been around since the mid-seventeenth century. It is without question the most charming place on Nevis. The owners and staff will become your friends. It's unavoidable. The food is good. But, the Caribbean BBQ wonderful. Overseen by Head Cook Kressie Stanley you will get more than your fill of delicious and authentic Nevisian food. Don't not skip the rabbit pie. It's fantastic. This is always a busy night for the Hermitage so call Cadiler at the front desk and reserve. Go early enough to stroll around the grounds and see the cottages. It is my favourite inn.

The Hermitage was the oldest plantation in The Caribbean. The Main building is from the 17th Century and seems to be lovingly maintained with period furnishings. The grounds are worth a daytime walk around. The extensive and rare plantings and the Royal Palms are exquisite and really marvelous to enjoy. The lunch was also a very pleasant experience. From the mixed bean and pumpkin soups, through the catch of the day, grouper, and pizza for my discerning other half, the meal was all in all very good. We both had cookies and cream ice cream, also a step above the usual. I had lemongrass tea suggested by our waitress, Tishoncia Browne. I LOVED it! Tishoncia has it three times a day and I can see why!!! This spot was definitely worth a visit!

Book in advance the pig roast night. It is a feast for your senses. The pig is roasted for 7 hours , and is taken right form the oven, and put on a table with all the rest of the food. It is almost a painting from Arcimboldo !

In the daytime this is as picturesque a setting as you could ever find. Main building is one of the oldest wooden structures on the island. Colorful large cottages in lush gardens are all over the property. At night they have a charming bar with old world elegance. You have a drink in the sitting room, which is filled with antiques, and then proceed to the dining area on the covered porch decked out with little white lights. Romantic, charming, historic...and great food. Very attentive and well trained waitstaff. Food is always delicious. Well worth a visit. Do call ahead to see if they are having a special menu night, which they sometimes do.
Go.
