This was our family’s first vacation at Kaye Coco and definitely not the last one. The southern part of the island, which is also the most beautiful one, is renowned for its exclusivist resorts, and we would have never imagined it as a vacation gateway, until we found out about this affordable and convenient alternative.

Kaye Coco is the perfect place for a family with active kids who enjoy water, sun, hiking and being in the middle of pristine nature. The hotel is located in the middle of a small village called Choiseul, at about one hour drive from the Hewanorra Airport and half an hour from the nearest city, Soufriere, which used to be the island’s capital.

After arriving at the airport we were picked up by a very welcoming local driver in an air conditioned minivan, booked ahead of time by the property manager. He gave us some interesting information about the island and made our trip enjoyable. The turquoise Caribbean Sea on the left side of the road and the luxuriant vegetation on the other side, the endless cocoa, mango, palm tree plantations, the mangroves and the colorful tropical flowers, the mysterious sound of the rainforest, the picks of the two Pitons that throne over all this beauty, the calm, simple and free people and lastly but not least, the adventurous roads gave our mouths the shape of an orange and our hearths the fillings of pure joy and happiness from the very first minute until the last one of our one week vacation.

Once arrived at the hotel, we were welcomed by the staff, helped to get settled in a clean, rustic, comfortable apartment equipped with everything you need for a relaxing and worry free stay. In our way there from the airport we stopped for some grocery shopping, since there is no close by store in the village.

The views from this location are absolutely stunning. You wake up with the sea at your feet and be accompanied to bed by the majestuous Grand Piton, that watches over you while you dream about spending the rest of your life on this slice of paradise.

There are plenty of things to do in the area, so a good planning and helpful information from the staff made a big difference. Gorgeous beaches with corals and fish, drive in volcano, botanical gardens, mineral baths that make you ten years younger, nature trails, mountain hikes, rainforest walks, and island’s tours are just a few. We rented a 4 well car for 40usd per day, which we shared with another family of friends that came with us.

The days when we did not feel like driving we just lingered in the infinity pool with a local beer called, obviously, Piton or a fresh coconut drink. During the 20 minutes walks to the closest beach our daughter was nicely surprised by some of the neighbor’s goats, pigs, chickens and cows glazing at us while bathing in the sun or dirt.

In the mornings we would wake up our senses with a fresh, sweet banana picked directly from a cluster hanged up on our terrace by the property manager. Santa Lucia is the fruits’ Paradis. For an exotic salad we would drive 15 minutes to Sugar Beach where a very attractive local boy would come with a canoe full of harvest, and in between a snorkeling run and a sun ten, we would indulge in the most healthy and tasty lunch ever: mango, passion fruit, sour soap fruit, papaya, star fruit, coconut, aki aki, tropical apricot.

On our last hours spent there we could not be happier with the lasting memories we made, the good energy we brought back with us, and not less important, the money we saved for a second vacation on the island, definitely at the same hotel.

Amazing Holiday away from home, with amazing friends! We had a lot of fun on our trip, staying in this place. We were two families with kids staying in these two units, a family from Canada and one from Boston.

Layout: It’s two units joined together like a duplex, perfect if you are traveling with another family. Our unit contained a master bedroom with 2 large closets (including a safe box) and ocean view windows. There is also a large bathroom with a double sink, spacious shower and lots of drawer space under the sink. The living room is open concept and has a sofa-bed, perfect for our daughter who slept downstairs.

There are also stairs leading to the top, where there is a second king bed with a double closet. In total, there are 3 large beds in this house. We bought groceries in the town and then cooked most of our meals in the kitchen, which has a big fridge. Sometimes we ordered pizza or ate at the local restaurant. The owner can also arrange to order food for you.

There is a swimming pool and a deck in the back, with an ocean view. Note that the pool is shared between the two units! This was fine with us since we all traveled there together. The kids loved swimming in the pool while waiting for breakfast.

Tip: arrange with the owner/property manager to rent a car though him, that way the car and a driver is waiting for you at the airport and will drive you to your unit. Sugar beach is only a 5 minute drive from this unit, perfect for snorkeling under crystal clear blue waters.

Overall we had an wonderful time and now recommend all of our friends this location, we are already planning our next year’s trip back here!
I would like to thank to the owners Gabi & Vinel, also to the property managers Diana and Sorin for such a lovely stay, for your wonderful hospitality and information about the island.
I would highly recommend Kaye Coco to anyone traveling to St. Lucia, you will not be disappointed.

“A birthday celebration and a 25 year wedding anniversary get away that turned out to be nothing but perfect!”

We stayed at this property without other reviews and therefore were a bit nervous of what we were getting...little we knew that we were in for an incredible experience.
We were visiting St. Lucia to celebrate my birthday and a belated 25 years wedding anniversary; when we arrived at the villa, beautiful champagne crystal glasses and a bottle of champagne were waiting for us.
If you want a quiet, secluded holiday location, away from the All-inclusive hotels then this is the place for you. The location is sublime for peace and quiet. The villa is on a hillside, in a picturesque and quite part of the island, at the front, views of vast blue Caribbean Sea, and at the back, the peak of The Gross Piton surrounded by beautiful and lush jungle like vegetation.
The villa has an open concept kitchen living room, one bedroom apartment with a big loft. The kitchen has a stove top, fridge with freezer, coffee maker, dishes, silverware and cookware, lots of cupboard space. For someone who wants to stay here and use the kitchenette do your groceries shopping when you arrive at the airport before you settle in.
There is no TV but who needs a TV when you have such spectacular views? If you must use a laptop, tablet the WIFI connection is great.
There is no air conditioning but the design of the rooms allows for a constant cooling breeze, maintaining the right temperature, however there are several ceiling fans for additional air flow.
The bedroom has a separate his and her closet, with a good size safe inside. There is a queen size bed, with a very comfy mattress. The loft has another queen size bed and a wardrobe dresser.
Good size washroom with a double sink and a big and beautiful shower.
The deck provides access to a great splash infinity pool with great views to the ocean and to a young, beautiful but well maintained landscape around the villa.
We took many pictures with The Gross Piton, amazing sunsets, watched sail boats head off to St. Vincent on the beautiful blue sea, on a clear day you could see the island of St. Vincent...
When was the last time that you watched the sky at night? Millions of stars...the Milky Way so clear and almost touchable... Amazing...
The villa is part of the La Pointe Choiseul community, right in the middle of the "real" St Lucia, so if you like to explore and learn about the places you visit and the local people...you are in the right place.
The staff at the villa: Merlissa, Samantha, Garvin are nothing but friendly and a good source of information regarding places to visit, places to eat, shop, etc.
Lots of outdoor activities...There is a local beach, just a 20 minutes or so walk gets you down to a very private beach, accessible by locals or small boats, so there won’t be any crowds. You are a short (10 min) drive away from the amazing Jalousie beach (also known as Sugar beach), very close to the Volcano mud bath as well. You can visit the Botanical Garden and Diamond Waterfalls, Sulphur volcano springs, cocoa and banana plantations, several hiking locations such Gross Piton (a few recent injuries restricted me from tackle that trail)...my favorite was Tet Paul trail.
My husband went snorkeling around the Gross Piton, took pictures of several species of fish, while I enjoyed a fresh fruit salad, prepared and served while you waited by one of the locals...he brings the fresh fruits (mangoes, coconuts, oranges, bananas, star fruits, grapefruits, passion fruits, etc, all locally grown) by a small boat that he docks right on the beach.
We visited the city of Castries where we purchased most of our souvenirs, we frequented the town of Soufriere, there is a small grocery store to serve some of your needs, a bank, a few restaurants. You can also have the best coffee, also locally grown, or a fresh smoothie at Zaka’s Art Studio where you have the chance to meet the artist himself.
If you decide to drive, you will need a 4x4 as the villa it’s in a rural area and some of the local roads are a bit rough.
One night we had pizza from a local pizzeria that also delivered, on another night we had fish & chips at Rosie’s restaurant just a few minutes’ walk from the villa, on Friday night we went to a local BBQ. What a different experience...Don't expect fine dining but make sure you get there early because the chicken and the homemade fish cakes go very quickly. We encourage you to support the community, it’s a great way to meet local people and see the real St. Lucia.
If you crave for fine dining, there are several restaurants where you may have dinner: we dined at the Mango Tree Restaurant, good music & great food. We enjoyed a “sample night”, we were able to choose 6 sample courses and a bottle of wine for $95.00 US.
A few times we dined at Tet Rouge, a small restaurant within walking distance. On my birthday dinner night we had bruscheta, tuna chevice, mahi mahi fish served with vegetables, mash and mango salsa. On another night we had lion fish, served with vegetables and rice...and the desert, all to die for and worth liking your plate.
The surrounding area is completely undeveloped for tourism which gives a special charm. We were pleasantly surprised by the goats, cows, and chickens all around us. Hilarious! It brought back memories from our childhood vacations spent with grandparents out in the country side.
It was the PERFECT place to stay and just what we were looking for. We’ve never felt so free, safe and welcoming in any other vacation in a Caribbean island. There were plenty more of great experiences that would be just too much (!!!) to write about. For sure we will go back; we are even thinking of investing in a piece of land for a future residence...
