“wonderful view”

We were very pleased to find upon our arrival that we had been upgraded to a new 3 bedroom 2.5 bathroom villa. It was a spectacular place with with a most wonderful view of the marina at Rodney Bay. It came as advertised with a private pool and nice deck with lounge chairs. The kitchen had every thing you would need for a long stay including a gas stove, large refridgerator ,microwave and dishwasher. There was also a bbq area out back. The beds were comfy with nice linens and the bathrooms spectacular. The unit had AC but also had nice large opening windows to allow a breeze in. The unit was spotless and a cleaning person came in once per week. There were 2 balconies, one off the livingroom and one off the master bedroom.
Hector met us on arrival and checked in during our stay . The unit was within easy walking distance to both the marina and Rodney Bay Mall, both of which have a mirriade of restaurants. I will put a plug in for La Terrasse Restaurant which was excellent and for Delirious which was surprising good. I would also recommend Kendrick's Taxi service- he picked us up from the airport, took us on a private tour of the island and brought us back to the airport.
For those who have not been to St Lucia, it is hilly. The unit required us to go up a hill and climb 50 stairs to get to the front door. We did not rent a car and walked every where so it is possible but taxing. After touring the island, the Rodney Bay/Gros Islet area is the only place we would stay. Its close to beaches, restaurants, and shopping-including groceries.
Finally the people at SPLAPS(St Lucia Animal Protection Society) do a great job with dogs and cats on the island. Consider a donation or bringing some Nexguard or similar meds for them.

“Nice place and amazing view”

This place was great and was very reasonably priced. Hector and Gale were very nice and set up a pick up for us at the airport so we didn't have to fumble our way around the island trying to find their house. They had a jeep available for rent anytime we needed which was very convenient and also provided a phone for us to use. The only reason I give 4 stars is because there were some things that would have been nice to have, like paper towels, extra toilet paper, some cleaner, an extra soap, etc. Some daily essentials had to be bought. Obviously we needed to buy food and drinks, but I feel like maybe we shouldn't have had to stock certain things. I've rented many condos and houses and these things are normally available or stocked. Was a great place though and conveniently located to everything. It was a short walk and even shorter drive to all the action.

“Beautiful, Well Located Property For Independent Travelers”
Reviewed 3 May 2015 for a stay in April 2015

We didn't receive the red carpet treatment from the owners that other guests have described, but this is a very nice, up to date little apartment with a wonderful pool and a spectacular view of Rodney Bay.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place, but I would advise anyone to call a day or two in advance of your stay and remind Hector that you have a reservation. Our flight landed at about 1:00 p.m. and when we called to make arrangements to meet, he was clearly surprised to hear from us. He said he couldn't meet us any earlier than 5:00 p.m. and gave us some half hearted directions.

We drove up from the airport and then killed a few hours waiting for five to check in. We drove to the rental at five, and the place was deserted. Eventually we found a groundskeeper who called Hector. The kid was repeating everything Hector said back to him and he clearly said "keep them waiting around" Frankly, it was a weird situation. The groundskeeper is probably a great guy, but he looked like an extra from City of God and had no communication skills or social graces whatsoever. We asked if we could bring our stuff in, and he told us flatly "no." We sat around outside for a while and when I asked if we could please at least sit by the pool, he made another call and apparently got the ok to let us onto the terrace.

We waited until about 6:30 p.m. for Hector to finally arrive, and he seemed a bit agitated. Really? Tough commute? We woke up at 3:30 a.m. in Boston to catch our flight to JFK, caught the 4 hour connecting flight to St Lucia. then drove up the east coast of the island on the other side of the narrow twisty little roads. Like any tired travelers, we would have appreciated being welcomed or at least just let inside to freshen up upon our arrival. Instead, we sat around the pool while the groundskeeper eyed us suspiciously, and found ourselves wondering if there was a problem with our reservation or if we were even in the right place. I felt like an apology was in order, but even after politely complaining, Hector simply explained that his priority at the moment was setting up and making arrangements for the St Lucia Jazz Fest. That's all fine and good, nobody is a bigger music lover than me, but at least have someone capable cover for you and take care of your guests while you are preoccupied with other pursuits.

Yeah, so obviously we weren't happy about our arrival, but we did not let it stand in the way of enjoying ourselves. Rodney Bay is somewhat overdeveloped but there are some terrific restaurants (La Terrase, Plantation Brewing House) and we loved Reduit Beach. Going a bit off season worked out well as there were no crowds and you could easily find your own quiet spot for a picnic or rent a day bed from one of the resorts. The water was perfect, plenty of fun places to have a drink, super friendly people, it was great. You could walk to the center of Rodney Bay or the beaches from the apartment, but most people will feel more comfortable and safer driving.

If you are in the area Friday night, don't miss the Jump Up in Gros Islet. The music is nothing to write home about, but the bbq from he street vendors and the people watching is not to be missed.

So overall, this is a great place to stay for exploring the area, but just verify your arrangements in advance. It is also worth noting that there is apparently no housekeeping available. We arrived on Thursday evening and left midday Sunday and no one ever came in to tend to the apartment. I would bring some extra towels and toiletries, as the service here is non existent. We were given some fresh towels when we requested them. I would assume for most independent travelers this would not be a big deal, but it did seem a bit unusual. Again a nice place, but I couldn't help feel that we we arrived at a time that was inconvenient for the owners/managers and, as a result, were treated like second class citizens.

Thank you for your feedback. Firstly, we would like to apologise for the inconvenience caused during your stay at Rodney Bay Suites. Since launching of our product, we have made every effort to personally greet our guests on arrival and wish them safe travels when leaving. We actually enjoy meeting the folks who stay with us and have managed to built some very special relationships with folks who have stayed with us at RBS. It was very unfortunate that I had travelled to the coast on the day of your arrival and had hoped to be back on property on time, however the journey back took longer than expected. Given the challenge, I decided to use our grounds boy who was still on property to assist while I made my way back to the property. His name is Emerson and he is certainly not an extra from the City of Gods, he is a very hard working young man who plays an important role here in keeping the externals of the property look great. He is not a polished communicator but he would have certainly tried his best. Again, we apologise and have put the necessary process in place to esure we do not experience a repeat of this unfortunate situation. I want to share that the cleanlines of our apartments and the service we provide to our customers are extremely important to us. Our suites are cleaned 3 times per week ( Monday, Wednesday and Friday) clean towels and sheets are provided as well as a set of pool towels.
We are disappointed that we were not able to meet your expectations this time but hope this does not deter you from visiting our island and RBS in the future. All the best, Hector & Gale

we are extremely particular about our cleaning service. as advertised, our apartments are cleaned

“Beautiful View with wonderful accomodations.”
Reviewed 6 April 2015 for a stay in March 2015

Our hosts Hector and Gale were wonderful. They arranged private taxi service to and from the airport to their home.
Their home is located overlooking Rodney Bay. You get a great view of the Bay, the Marina and Pigeon Island. At night the area is all lit up.
The rental suite was clean and well cared for. Two suites share the deck and the pool area, but for the most part we were on our own. Great privacy. The pool was large enough that you can swim in it.
15 minute walk to the beach. 3 grocery stores within 10 minutes. Many restaurants close by.
Hector arranged tours for us and the tours picked us up and dropped us off at the house.
Hector also took us to the Friday night fish fry at Gros Islet.
Because the home is up on the hill, if you want to walk into town be prepared to walk back up the hill to home. Also you have to cross the highway, with no cross walks.
Overall great visit.

“Wow - what a location & fabulous apartment!”
Reviewed 19 March 2015 for a stay in March 2015

My husband & I have just returned from a 9 night stay in Suite A - one of the stunning apartments in Rodney Bay Heights. The apartment is fabulous - situated on the hillside overlooking Rodney Bay Marina & coastline - and with a large area of decking we spent our early mornings & evenings sitting outside with a rum & coke admiring the view.
The apartment is spacious for a couple & finished to a high standard - lovely comfortable & large king-size bed - we slept like logs every night. Modern shower room & sitting area / kitchen with all the conveniences we needed during our stay.
The apartment is one of two - both share a huge decked area & have their own outside seating & table. There is good sized shared pool & sheltered comfy seating area also.
We tended not to use the pool a great deal as we spent our time on several of the local beaches. The Rodney Bay Beach is the closest & easiest to access - clean. soft sand & clear turquoise sea. Beach can get quite busy on days when theres a cruise ship in town. The beauty of this beach is the beach restaurant Spinnakers - who serve one of the tastiest cheese burger & chips weve ever tasted (naughty but nice)!
We hired a jeep & also visited the beach at Landings (great sunbeds & a bit quieter), natural cove at Cap Maison (and best food ever eaten at a beach) & the beach at Le Sport fab too.
We found St Lucia relatively easy to get around in our jeep - sign posting is sometimes a little lacking & south of Castries the roads were very pot-holed - but beautiful scenery & well worth our explorations to Marigot Bay & Soufriere.
What really made the holiday special was the attention & assistance from the owner, Hector Joseph - he gave us loads of advice about where to go & helped us get into a few places we may have missed as non-locals. He arranged for a jeep to be delivered to the apartment - which took all the hassle out of sorting it ourselves. He really looks after his guests and goes out of his way to ensure guests get the best out of their holiday.
We loved our time in St Lucia & would definitely recommend this accommodation - if you like a bit more peace & quiet & time to relax - this place is for you.
