“Absolutely Fantastic”
Reviewed 2 July 2010

We visited Le Sereno last December while we were looking for a venue for our wedding this coming December of 2010. The food was fantastic, as was the service. Wonderful atmosphere, lovely rooms.

The staff has been such a joy to work with during the planning process. Marlene and Jean Pierre have been so helpful, knowledgeable and accommodating. They are always quick to respond to questions. I have every confidence that the wedding is going be absolutely amazing.

I would highly recommend Le Sereno to anyone that is looking for a quality vacation. And for any bride to be, this should be the first place you look at for a destination wedding in the Caribbean.

St Barths is the best place in the Caribbean by far, and Le Sereno is just perfect, I have been all over the world at the best resorts and this little gem stacks right up, The rooms are simple, elegant, clean, very slick and sexy,
The locations is just beautiful. People on here complain that it is not on a sand beach, thats ridiculous, the pool and the location right on this bay are unreal. Half of the fun of this island is jumping in the car and exploring the spectacular beaches. ( Saline, Gouverneur , Colombier and Shell beach are truly world class)
the staff is superb, Joahhna, the guest relations manager is amazing,
Joss at the front desk is great, Daniel and Pierre at the pool are incredible and Matthew at the restaurant could not be nicer.
if you are thinking about going to this hotel, you will have a lovely vacation.
It is really a treat all around.

Rooms were beautiful and staff was very friendly. I loved waking up in the morning and having breakfast outside overlooking the ocean. Then relaxing at the pool and being catered by the staff. It was so peaceful and just an overall great and romantic experience

Sereno is a rather well kept and trendy looking place. The service is great and I would highly recommend it, had the price been about 1/3 of what it was.

Forget the photos, it is NOT on a swimming beach. It is on a murky, grassy, and rocky grand cul de sac. If you enjoy spending 30 EURO for a "burger" the size of a slider at their lunch beach bar, go ahead. The staff is good, and the premises are very well maintained. I was very underwhelmed for my $1,000 per night. Even at $300 a night, I'd call it an OK place.

We stayed at Le Sereno for 5 nights at the end of our honeymoon. We decided to add St Barth at the end of our trip to France (Paris and Provence) and are so glad we did. In fact, we wish we stayed longer. You really need a week in St Barth at a minimum.

The staff is amazing and could not be more friendly. They made us feel like royalty and were willing to help with anything. Otavia and Coralie made dinner reservations, the beach guys (Daniel and Pierre) recommended the best beaches for our beach-hopping excursions (a necessity on St Barth) and Laurent and Matt at the restaurant served us with a smile (laughs, in fact).

The location is terrific for those wanting the option of just staying at the hotel. Although exploring a new beach every day is definitely the thing to do on St Barth, it was also nice to sleep in and stumble out to the beach for breakfast, lunch and napping. We went to several other more expensive luxury hotels to check them out (Toiny, Eden Rock, Carl Gustav) and didn't see any that had such great beachfront access like Le Sereno - it looked like the others you had to take a pathway to the beach at best and scale cliffs at worst. This does come with one caveat: as of November 2009 there was quite a bit of construction on Grand Cul de Sac so it's not the best beach in St Barth (not even in the top 5) but none of the incredible beaches on St Barth is more than a 5-15 minute drive away. Further, the hotel sits on the western end of the beach, close to the Guanahani hotel (over the rocks - not an easy walk and it looked to us like guests from the much more expensive Guanahani were not happy about schlepping over the rocks to the "second" beach as they advertise), and the construction is all on the other end of the beach. So we only noticed the construction from the distance and the one time we decided to take a walk to the other end of the beach.

There is also a good little beach bar / lunch spot at the dive shop right next to the hotel. Our package included delicious breakfast which was well worth it. Since the restaurant at Le Sereno is pretty expensive we took advantage of the lunch spot door next and ate big breakfasts.

Our room - a "suite terrace" not on the beach - was small but elegant and comfortable. The hotel's simple and sophisticated design complements the friendly staff - from the lighting to the dining area to the pool deck everything has been well thought-out. The one drawback was that the bathroom was not air conditioned as the large "couples" shower was basically outside (with privacy screen). There were quite a few mosquitoes as it had been raining the week before we arrived, so our bathroom trips were pretty quick. But they give you free organic mosquito-repellent oil and an electronic mosquito net that was very effective at keeping the bugs at bay. We kept our bathroom door closed so that kept the bugs out of our bedroom, and the reality is that we didn't spend a lot of time in the room except to sleep and shower before dinner. We had a nice terrace with tropical garden in front of our unit so felt like we had our own little private villa.

Our package also came with a car so we were able to explore the best of St Barth during our stay and again the staff was great about recommending their favorite spots. We spent another part of our honeymoon in a 5-star hotel in Paris and we felt like their concierge recommended places they thought American tourists would want to go. At Le Sereno we were sent to beaches and restaurants that are local favorites.

In sum, compared to the other hotels we saw on St Barth we felt like we picked the best one. Le Sereno was about $150 / night cheaper than any of the other super luxe hotels, laid back and unpretentious, staff was great, beachfront location was huge; we have very few complaints and can wholeheartedly recommend. We already miss the friends we made and will have dreams of Le Sereno for years to come!
