Great location, right by the bars and the Espranza beach.
The rooms are on the smaller side but super clean and had everything we needed. I am not typically a big fan of bnbs but this place had lot of character!
The breakfast was good and the bar/restaurant attached to the hotel has great views!
All in all a great stay especially at the $150 per night that we paid!

Stayed in the Casita with my husband and mom this past weekend. The Casita consist of two full/queen beds, a small dresser, two small laps & end tables, a small refrigerator & one full bath. Functionally, the space worked fine i.e. there weren't any bugs(that we saw), the ac worked, bathroom had hot water & functioned well, beds weren't bad & ceiling fan worked...

Aesthetically, the place was awful. The front door is so worn we could actually see outside through the cracks. Electrical outlets needed covers replaced or didn't have them at all. Maybe two or three of the window shutters could be opened. Our sheets had holes in them. The window curtains where made from sarongs, which is fine, but one of them had a huge hole in it(from moths?). The shower curtain had mold on it. And all of the shower curtain rings where mismatched, but not in a cute way.

Again, functionally the place worked. But if management would spend a little money/time on the smaller details, I believe the Casita would be worth the $140 per night.

We enjoyed our one night stay at the Trade Winds, the hosts were gracious enough to let us check in early. The rooms are basic but comfortable. The location is great, right on the malecon (boardwalk). We left early the next morning to catch a flight and the office was not open yet, we just left the keys in the room and the bill was charged to my credit card.

Room Tip: There are two sections of rooms, in the restaurant and in the court yard. I think the ones in the court yard are quieter.

9 of us arrived on Christmas Eve for dinner. This gem of a restaurant on the ocean front wasted no time in putting together a large table and offering us a wide variety of cuisine. The chef visited the table to answer questions and the food was superb. 9 different main courses were selected and all were wonderful. The staff were friendly, attentive, and made time to help out with beach recommendations and local knowledge.

We arrived on Vieques coming from a fancy resort on the main island, so the rustic nature of Trade Winds was a bit of a shock. The rooms are oddly shaped, a bit dark and claustrophobic, but most or all seem to have some ventilation and the dim light can be good for sleeping. Our room was air conditioned but also had windows that didn't fully close, so the place isn't very eco friendly - the A/C was constantly fighting with the hot, humid air coming in through the window. Hot water in the shower was hit or miss. The doors had 1 cm gaps around the edge and window screens were not flush with the window frame, so some mosquitoes got into our room. The wifi in the cafe area was strong but it didn't work well in our room.

On the plus side, the hosts were very nice and accommodating. Our package was an excellent value, as it included a biobay tour and $50 GC for the restaurant. They were very concerned that the weather was rainy during our day and they allowed us to order from the full breakfast menu instead of sticking to continental offerings. Our room was on a hallway off the hotel kitchen and we were concerned about noise but had no trouble sleeping. Excellent location and awesome food.
