After a 12 day cruise we checked into this Best Western. We were early, but had our room by 1:00. Staff is very friendly. Room in the South Tower was large with two queen beds, but the bathroom was small. The air conditioner was so loud we had to turn it off at night to sleep. The pool was great! Breakfast was adequate. Being a hub for cruisers, the weekend breakfasts were very crowded. Happy Hour in the bar Monday-Friday was a nice touch. On the beach we had a reserved area with free loungers. Loved the location as we were right near the bus line, great restaurants, CVS, and the beach. Would return, but only in North Tower.

San Juan is generally a run down, expensive place. This hotel was cheaper than other hotels in comparison, although they had the usual exorbitant taxes and fees associated with all San Juan hotels. The lobby was remodeled and clean, staff was very polite and helpful. Beach was a short walk away, nice having chairs and towels available there. Rooms were dated and in need of remodeling/updating. Breakfast was hearty (included eggs and some sort of meat and a potato each morning) but crowded. I'm not sure I'll return to San Juan, but if I do, I would definitely stay here again.

I was really impressed when we walked in the lobby; very clean and modern. The front desk staff was courteous and helpful (we arrived in the morning well before check in, but they were nice enough to store our bags and get us a parking pass so we could go explore the area). The location of the hotel is perfect; about a block and a half to the beach, surrounded by shops and restaurants, and centrally located to just about everything you'd want to do on the island (10-15 minute drive to old San Juan, El Morro, and the Bacardi distillery, about an hour of very scenic driving to Arecibo where la cueva del Indio is, about 20 minutes to the big fancy mall, and about 30ish minutes to El Yunque). The tour desk up front was very helpful in organizing a couple of activities for our group of four, as well as recommending some places to eat that were off the beaten path. We had a very easy time getting around, and really did enjoy coming back to the little beach community at the end of the day to explore the area on foot and unwind.
Unfortunately our stay here did have some disappointments. The ocean view that I thought I had paid for is definitely not the view from our room in the north tower on the 15th floor (see pictures taken from just outside the sliding door in the middle of our patio). The room was spacious and tidy, but a little shabby and outdated. The pool is small and and not very well maintained, and what we had thought was a hot tub actually turned out to be a shallow "kiddie pool". The hotel does have a beach club that provides lounge chairs and towels, although I recommend bringing your own towel if you can, as the ones they offer are very thin and tiny. The breakfast varied from okay to downright bad, so most mornings we opted for an inexpensive breakfast around the corner at Latin Star (FANTASTIC coffee). Overall we really did enjoy the location and a clean, comfy bed. However, as someone who travels quite a bit, I think I was expecting a little more for the money from the actual establishment.

We enjoyed exploring San Juan in this hotel because of the location and free bikes we were able to use. Also great local places are within walking distance to eat at. We liked that the beach is only 2 blocks away and they had towels and chairs to also use for free. The breakfast is encluded in the room rate and was great to get your day started. The bar has happy hour 2 for one drinks during the week that was a great deal. We got delicious frozen drinks,

Very long wait for room (1 hour +) for room to be cleaned. Strong odor of mildew in room. On the last day of our stay, we were offered a room change. Breakfast choices were adequate but saucers were used for plates. Are they afraid we will eat too much?

Hi Mrs. Simmonds,
Thank you for staying at our property and reviewing the stay. We offer our apologies for the situation with the room. I assure you it was an isolated incident. The hotel's check out time is 11am and guaranteed in check in time is 3pm. We always work very hard in order to check in our guests as soon as possible and before the 3pm guaranteed time. Our system shows that you were checked into your room at 11:46am, three hours before the guaranteed check in. We serve a complimentary breakfast for three hours everyday. Guests are welcomed to stay, eat and enjoy as much as they like, but its truly sad to see how much people over serve themselves and the amount of food that is thrown out everyday. If I can be of additional assistance, please feel free to contact me directly at Hneumann@condadopalm.com or 787-648-8834.
Thank you,
Henry Neumann
