My husband and I stayed here for the first time, villa 22 a special thank you to all the staff. Pamela was exceptional and very informative, she made us feel welcomed. This is truly a peaceful place on earth. If you love to explore, the Reach Falls are perfect, No hassle like what you get in other tourist spots like Ocho Rios and Montego Bay, no one bothers you in Port Antonio. The Villas offer ocean views and very clean. If you are laid back people this is the place for you. Will be returning in February for 1 week.

Room Tip: all rooms are peaceful go for sea views

I last reviewed Goblin Hill in 2014 when I gave it 5*****. We came back here because the site is amazing, the villas comfortable and it has a great pool. We really enjoyed our stay and our helper, Coral, was absolutely wonderful. There were a couple of issues though, in particular relating to Wifi/TV and noise from the workmen redecorating the next door villa. These issues won't stop us coming back but the management may want to get a tighter grip on things - hence the 4**** rating this time.

We came to Goblin Hill for a 4 day stay with our family including our 2 20-something boys. The staff arranged pickup in Kingston for the 3+ hour drive out. They are good at choosing trustworthy folks to help the culturally challenged Americans navigate and experience the area without being taken advantage of. Our cook/housekeeper was excellent and spoiled us day after day.
The unit is nice but not lavish (didn't expect it to be). In June it is fairly warm so it was great to go upstairs to A/C when we went to bed. A few scattered items were in need of repair but nothing that was critical.
Staff was very attentive, arranging transportation, outings, etc as we had requests. They arranged snorkeling and a boat tour of the reef in San San bay and Pellew Island and a driver so that we could go down the east coast a ways to do some business and make a stop at Boston Beach for playing the waves and a surfing lesson for my son (along with some good jerk!)
Only drawback was that the internet was down for the majority of our stay (which means the TV did not work either as they use Roku). They were quite apologetic about this. I suspect this isn't a usual problem but don't know.
We would definitely consider staying there again.

We reserved two villas(number 1&2). We reserved these rooms in January for my birthday trip in June. The day of our expected arrival, we even informed them we would be arriving late. Plenty of time to ensure we had a pleasant check-in.

Villa 2 had a broken TV and didn't have working AC. Workers had taken the unit apart and left wires dangling. Shouldn't they have informed the front desk not to rent out this unit, instead of waiting for their guests to arrive, begin to unpack and then make this discovery? And villa 1 was left with a dirty stove and a balcony door that would not lock.

The front desk then consolidated both groups into a 2-bdrm unit , villa 8. We were tired having flown in to MoBay and then had a 3-hr drive to Port Antonio. The front desk clerk didn't seem empowered to make any action to resolve. We were told to come to office at 9am the following morning when the manager would be onsite. Of course when we came by the office aft 9:30, she hadn't arrived. We left a msg for her to contact us. And instead of the manager seeking us out, we had to continue to stop by until we found her in the office. Just a bad way to do business. It's a nice property that charges 4-star prices for 3-star accommodations and 2-star service.

Dear Melanie,

I have been looking in to the circumstances which led to your disappointing experience with us. I must apologize for your not receiving the service you expected on your arrival, particularly after a long and tiring drive.

I have spoken with both our acting Manager and the receptionist on duty the night you arrived, to ascertain what happened and why.

Our acting Manager checked both villas 1 and 2 the day before your arrival and discovered that the air conditioner in villa 2 had a defect which our maintenance was not able to repair. She therefore instructed the receptionist to give you two options when you arrived : for one couple to stay in villa one and the other couple to stay in number 8, or for both couples to stay in villa 8 which is a two bedroom villa. Our receptionist's mistake was in sending you to villas 1 and 2 as originally booked , but our acting Manager says this was corrected immediately while your bellhop was still with you by sending over a security guard with the correct message.

I understand both couples stayed in villa 8, after all. I'm sorry that there had been a mix-up at the beginning. The acting Manager says that when you came by her office before going to the beach the next day it was indeed before she arrived, but she made sure to speak to you as soon as you stepped out of the car on arriving back from the beach in the afternoon.

Just a word of clarification - the TV in villa 2 is a new one, and was working, however we provide a device along with the TV which stores music and a variety of films, and the device in villa 2 is different to the others on property. It seems that your bellhop did not recognize it. Still, I apologize for his not having been made aware of that change and perhaps giving you the impression it was not there.

Our acting Manager is puzzled that you found the stove dirty as she inspected the villa after it was cleaned the previous day; and the balcony door lock had recently been changed by our maintenance man, so we will look at it again to see why you experienced a problem with it.

From personal experience when traveling and arriving tired, I know and sympathize completely with the disappointed feeling on arrival when everything is not as expected. I do hope that in the end you had a restful and enjoyable stay. I have acted on this posting by instituting a new position which will be start in a week and which is designed to ensure that all such details are conveyed to the right people at the right time, and that all guests will be engaged with, by her, every morning to ensure that not only are all the initial hiccups dealt with satisfactorily and on time, but anything else that may arise during our guests' stay.

Thank you for your feedback. It is much appreciated and is being acted upon.

Sincerely,

The owner

The hotel itself is a unique one especially for us getting used to stay in the ordinary hotels.
We stayed in a 2 bedroom villa with bedrooms on the second floor and spacious and big living/dining room and the kitchen on the first.
In the morning we were greeted by the housekeeper/cooker Maria, who was just amazing! She prepared anything we've asked for breakfast and dinner. However you would need to buy goods in advance.
The territory is so picturesque with a nice swimming pool and and see views. We could do some morning exercises on the green terrace and have a breakfast outside afterwards.
Highly recommended for travelers and don't forget to visit Blue lagoon)))
