“postcard perfect paradise”
Reviewed 9 March 2012

It's the only place I went in Portland where I felt like a pampered tourist, so it feels a bit out of place there in how manicured it is. But it's nice for a change of pace. The waves are pretty calm, and the beach is kind of tiny, but it has beautiful sand, and it's very fun to swim in. The small river next to it was nice to snorkel in, though not that many kinds of fish. It's also great to walk around the grounds and see the villas.

“Fabulous!”
Reviewed 18 February 2012

This is the best beach! Just a short route taxi ride from Port Antonio (10 minutes). There is a fee (~J$5 per person) to use this beach, but it was well worth it. It's small, but we went on a Friday and there only about a dozen other people and everyone was spread out, so there was lots of privacy.
The cove is so perfect and beautiful! Great place to hang out for the day. There are change facilities on site and there is a restaurant that will serve you drinks and food right on the beach, or you can sit up at the restaurant and look over the beach. You can use plastic lawn chairs for free, or the staff will set you up with a lounge chair for a small fee (~J$2 per chair). There were staff always watching the beach to see if anyone needed anything and we were able to leave our backpack and purse right by our chairs while we swam and there were no problems. I noticed on the way out that there are lockers outside the change rooms - so maybe you could rent one if you're worried. If I'm ever back in Jamaica, I will consider staying on-site as the operators of the beach also have a hotel facility.

“Lovely...”
Reviewed 17 February 2012

Frenchman's Cove once upon a time was said to be one of the top seven beaches in the world. The world has become larger... however in my book it will always be one of the best I have ever visited.
