This is the first resort I’ve been to that I would consider coming back to. My friend and I were looking for sun, beach, nice place, and quick flight over the Easter weekend. We stayed 5 nights and 6 days. We booked with WestJet Vacations, and it was an easy 4hr flight from Toronto.

Pros:
- resort is about 30-45min away from the airport (even shorter if no traffic) so no long bus rides.
- Beautiful resort and super clean. Beach is incredible, long, clean.
- Staff is incredibly friendly, helpful, and professional
- lots of activities if you want (games, entertainment, water activities, etc) or easy to find a quiet place to relax
- easy to find a chair at the pool or beach
- easy towel service, no cards or exchanges
- no wristbands
- Drinks were good and service too, tipping helps but we managed just fine without
- can attend foam party at breathless (5min private walkway over to their resort), which you have to try at least once! It was surprisingly fun and not gross.
- A decent gym. Packed with a lot of equipment and variety (weights to treadmills, bikes).
- 24hr room service and privacy button
- Dinners all a la carte and no reservations needed (except for Hibachi)
- coffee was delicious
- For resort food, really can’t complain. They have good variety, was tasty, and we didn’t feel or get sick.
- easy to get around the resort, nothing seemed too far or over crowded.
- easy check out and transfers to and from resort was smooth

Cons:
- check in service was painfully slow. There were 4 groups (in couples) when we arrived and it took at least 30min with two service desks open to start to check in.
- late check out is $25USD per hour after, that felt unreasonable and off brand with how accommodating they are for everything else

Overall - this was a great experience and good value for money. We were able to quietly relax to try a foam party, and met some great people from all over the world. Would definitely recommend!!

The hotel and rooms are beautyful. Service at all levels was excellent. The food here is amazing, the best I have tried in an all inclusive. I miss that jerk chicken cart. Thanks to Jheanell and Billy Love for taking good care of my people.

Little bit late to write my review but now it is. We were at the SSJ Montego Bay last June 2017. We really enjoyed our stay. The resort service was more than what we could expected. The cleanliness of the resort was amazing, food excellent, employees were very friendly. We really enjoy Philip at the piano bar, one of the best bartender I ever seen. In addition if you see Christhan, her smile will make your day.
I have nothing wrong to say about this resort, maybe one thing, our vacation was to short....lol. They make us feel like home, Everything is at proximity, easy to find our way. We had the opportunity to visit the Breathless Resort across the street, brand new, our friend were staying there. We are beach lovers and our stay at Secrets was awesome.
if you enjoy snorkelling, this is the place to go. Left of the resort, maybe 6-8 minutes swimming, you can find this amazing coral with lots of different fish, a little further down you can see the infinity of the ocean, maybe 20 feet deep, dark blue in colour, breathtaking. We went snorkelling every day. This was our 9th trips in the Caribbean and this was by far the best place for snorkelling.
As for restaurant, very good, specially World Cafe, Portofino, Bordeaux. As for bars, as I said before, the Piano Bar with Philip was a rendez-vous every night. We also went to the Marlin Bar and Barracuda Bar, all great as well. For the pools, we went twice maybe as I mention before we are beach lovers.
What I liked at this resort is we didn't have any venders on the beach or in the water wanted to sell you gifs, not allowed, this was perfect, we were able to enjoy our vacation. All you have is a little souvenir shop, carving souvenir, he was very friendly and honestly very quiet, you want to buy, great, if not he will not bother you.
Our overall stay was A++++. This is definitely a resort we would go back.
They have as much as 9 restaurant/buffet, Coco Cafe open 24 hrs, Late night snack in front of World Cafe, 11 pm to 2 am, serving hamburgers, hot dogs, chips and of course the world famous "Jerk chicken". Lots of activities, such as Yoga, beach volley ball, scuba demo, sunset yoga, soca dances, aquacise, bike ride, etc....
Hope this was helpful, will post a few pictures as well.

Stayed at Secrets St. James from March 26 through April 2, 2018.

Room was nicely appointed (though starting to show it's age). Comfort and cleanliness were never a concern. Meals/drinks were very good. Beach was clean and there was never an issue with chair availability. Water in one of the pools was, surprisingly, heated. We found it to actually be too warm, though it did not seem to bother others.

The mystery about this place is that it is marketed separately from Secrets Wild Orchid even though the two are behind the same gate and staying at one resort gives you free run of both. The two share dinning facilities, entertainment, pools and beaches. Rooms, by all accounts, are identical. When pricing your trip select the side (St. James or Wild Orchid) that is offering the best deal at the time.

We didn't stay overnight here so I can't tell you about the rooms. However we were at the neighboring resort Breathless and could access all of the services of this resort. Also next door was the resort Secrets Wild Orchard. The two Secrets share a lot of the restaurants, entertainment and beaches. We went to as many restaurant as we could for dinner and enjoyed each one. Best time to go to avoid lines was before 7 or after 8:30. We stayed for some of the evening entertainment because our resort ended most of their events by 11pm. There is a stage outside a large open air bar so it was very pleasant place to watch the entertainment.
The beaches are side by side so there is a lot of space and variety of seating options. There's no waiter service (that we could see) but there are bars and grills along the beach so it's not far to get what you want.
We'll consider this resort next time we are in Montego Bay.
