Just got back from Sunset Beach in Montego Bay and i have to say i was more then pleasantly surprised. We had an awesome vacation. i was a little scared after reading some of the negative reviews but after having such a great time i knew i had to come back and write my own review of this place. 1st off, i am very well traveled, i go on a vacation at least 3-4 times a year inc islands, Europe, US trips, you name it. I like looking for a deal but im also very picky about where i stay when it comes to quality, safety and cleanliness. This trip was booked by my boyfriend as a surprise vacation for my birthday and i have to say he did a great job.
Ill start with the food: It was all inclusive which sometimes scares me because more then anything i appreciate good food. Now don't misunderstand, the food was not 5 star gourmet but there was always something for everyone and a wide variety, you for sure would never worry about being hungry. Only went to the Asian "restaurant" on site, it was ok, not great, a couple that we went with also went here, they are both vegetarians though and they LOVED it so i don't know, to each his own. but at the buffet, everything was fresh, the fish the meat the veggies and fruit. they changed their selection everyday but they always had a carving station, a pasta station and a grill. dessert was awesome and plentiful. there was also a grill onsite which stayed open till 1am where you can get hamburgers, grilled cheese, jerk chicken ect . only problem with food was that there was not something available 24/7. the grill closed at 1am bars around 2, i think the "disco" stayed open a little later, but im not sure. but overall, the staff went out of their way to ask if you needed anything at all.
We went to one restaurant off site called "the Native". this place has a car come pick you up and drop you off free of charge if you are staying at the hotel (ofcourse you pay for your meal once you are there though) this was a nice change of pace and wasn't very expensive.
Drinks- Great, make sure to have some rum cream it is awesome. You can basically get whatever you want from the bar the bartenders are very well versed in their drink knowledge.
Staff-I can't understand how people are saying that the staff was rude. i just felt that they ran on "island time" which is fine by me. The maids were so friendly and attentive, everyone smiled and said "good afternoon/evening/night" when you walked by, no one at all looked cross or like they weren't enjoying their jobs.
Facility- AMAZING, so beautiful. the grounds were great the beach was small, no waves, but im used to that from the Bahamas. the view could not be beat. they had several pools, all stunning, one with 2 great water slides, a lazy river and a pirates cove ship for the kids. No one ever told you not to do something, like swim late at night. pretty much if you are not causing harm then you are doin alright. "Jamaica, no problem mon" was very much the motto. every time i glanced around i was awestruck by beautiful scenery. the color of the ocean is unmatched. reminds me of Bermuda.
Rooms- we asked at the front desk upon check-in to please be upgraded to an ocean front (we reserved a garden view) she said that it would be $45 a night to upgrade to which we said "do what you can and we will take care of you" she gave us a room with a gorgeous 9th floor ocean front room for a nominal tip. the room itself was minimalistic but the balcony made it worth it. Overall the room was nice, clean, and a great air conditioner. but in this area, u get what you pay for, but again, i will not complain, if anyone has been to the Atlantis Beach tower the rooms are very comparable to this. No frills, but clean- only complaint is noise, gets a bit loud in the halls due all the tile, but again, im on vacation and so are all the people making noise so im fine with that too.
I really don't know how people came here and had so many complaints. they must be very picky, and people who are that picky should only stay at places that are 5 stars. this vacation was fantastic, i have already recommended the place to others and ive only been home a day. Great for people with kids (we don't have kids but it's nice to see them running around and playing). Never at any point while i was there did we feel overwhelmed by crowds yet we never felt alone. it was perfect, there was so much to do that no one was ever all in the same place, so you had plenty of time to relax. Oh they also had a great play area with mini-golf, giant chess and checker boards, basket ball volley ball and tennis, ping pong, you name it. Only problem with that you have to get a ball/towel/ping pong equipment before the towel huts close at 7 if you want to use any of these things late at night. it only took one day to realize this though so no problem there. Again i can't stress enough how wonderful of a vacation this was, and i know im forgetting to mention something. I find it odd too that people complain about giving a credit card for a deposit. i think this is totally normal you always have to leave a credit card on file, no one is trying to pull the wool over your eyes.
We went on a zip line tour which was fantastic too, the tour guides were fun and very professional , it was well worth the $90 US price per person.
Overall, the trip was wonderful. place was great people were great, island breeze was great. feel free to write me with any questions you may have. but i'll assure you as long as you aren't a snob, you will have a blast!!

Ok place , beach pretty nice, most bartenders very nice, not very clean in rooms, buffet not very good, everyday the same food,Italian resturant very good but hard to get in for reservations,Allinclusive i found to be a lie because if you wanted to get even a soda most machines were shut down,Pools closed way too early 6pm,some bars closed too early the swim up bar was to be open till 1am but was closed most nights by 7,If you go on any excursions be carefull, we went to hip strip , paid 40 us dollars for round trip, dropped off at a store called dollys, was told driver would be back at 1230pm waited till 130pm and had to hire another cab to get back onlt to find out our driver named BREEZY was sitting at the main enterance so BEWARE BOOKING AT HOTEL.Much better places to go in JAMAICA ive been to a couple. the house band plays every night , not very good and plays the same songs everynight.

This was our second trip to Sunset Beach Resort and it was more enjoyable than the first visit. We were planning on staying at a different resort but decided to stay with what we knew. My husband and I took our two 15 year old boys and 17 year old daughter and had the best experience. The kids did their own thing and my husband and I had our own time alone. The resort is very safe and secure and everyone knows who belongs to who. We did the dinner for two which was unforgettable and if you have the opportunity to do it I would. It costs extra but worth every penny. The staff is friendly, kind and helpful. Dameion the life guard is so kind and great with the kids. The whole entertainment staff(too many of them to list individually, but all great) kept everyone going non stop and the kids really had a lot of fun. Sashaoi in guest relations is amazing, and was willing to help in anyway to make sure our trip was memorable. She even planned a family dinner which again costs extra but it was a perfect ending to our trip. Pete was our personal server for both private dinners and was great. The photographers were really nice and the girls in the photo shop were so kind and patient. Make sure you book your reservation to the Italian restaurant as soon as you can. It fills up quickly. The whole spa team is wonderful as well. Trust me we spent a few mornings there. What I have realized with this resort compared to all of the other hotels I have visited is that the staff is relaxed, laid back and not stuffy, which makes it a relaxing atmosphere for you to enjoy. They are friendly and want you to have fun. Needless to say we will be back in the Spring of 2012 and we can't wait to see all of the staff we consider part of our family now. I would recommend this resort to anyone who is planning on going to Montego Bay. After you check in make sure you go to guest relations, ask for Sashoi and she will take good care of you.

Sunset Beach has something for everyone. My boyfriend and I stayed March 23 - 28 with his 14 year old son. The activities were so diverse, you would have to work at being bored! . HIs son discovered the Teen Club, run by Nardia who is a total gem. So if he wasn't busy at the beach, in one of the three pools or with the acitivities, we could find him at the Club. Our room might not have had the best view (we overlooked the entrance driveway), but it was clean, bright and airy and the maid service was great. Any request we made was seen to. The food was diverse and delicious. The two a la carte restaurants were also great and worth lining up to make a reservation, but my favourite hands down, was the Italian. Not only was the food above par, but the service was incredible, especially in light of the fact that it was covered under the all inclusive label. Tipping might not be required, but all the staff went above and deserved gratuities.
Make sure you get Clinton to whip you up an omelette - he's the best!

Looking forward to heading to Montego Bay and the Sunset Beach again next year.

Just got back from sunset beach after having a superb holiday. There was 4 adults and 2 children. We arrived at check in after a 10 min drive from the airport and greeted with a nice cold fruit punch. We stayed in the east wing a nice clean room just opposite the kids pool. And a lovely view of the beach to the rear. After a 10 hour flight we were ready for a bite to eat .So we went to the Banana Walk very impressive it was my sons birthday and the staff made it very special and sung happy birthday to him and presented him with a cake. The food in there is fantastic and we always ordered wine with our meal.We also tried all 3 restaurants all were brilliant meals and the staff all made you feel special.I think we must of tried all the cocktails and the kids has alcohol free cocktails and made friends with the bar staff. We went on a trip to the Dunns river falls and the Dolphins cove a full day out really enjoyed it.We did the dolphin touch and bought some photos of the kids kissing them. The Dunns was great we managed to climb to the top has such a laugh !! It cost us about £ 250 for 2 adults and 2 kids but well worth it !We spent a lot of our time on the gorgeous beach in fact the best beach i have ever been to. Swimming in the sea lovely and warm. The weather was very hot so be warned to bring a high factor sun cream .We saw a couple of weddings whilst we were there looked gorgeous perfect place to marry .Would love to go back to sunset beach 2 weeks was not enough. Great room cleaned every day, great food excellent restaurants, Friendly staff fantastic weather. My only upset was the nightly entertainment or lack of it . The steel band were brilliant we watched them twice but didn't have much on after that.Could do with something on every night but it didn't bother us to much cause by the time we had eaten we were ready for bed. Would defo recommend sunset beach loved it.
