Have just spent 2 months at the next door apartment, manged by Mike. Same views etc. He picked us from airport, 9 pm arrival and as requested, had put in some breakfast items so we can start the morning off well. Mike was very helpful in the whole booking, arrival and hand over process.
The 2 bedroom apartment is open plan lounge, dine and kitchen which gives an airy open feel to the view out side and a wonderful covered patio to absorb it day or night.
Apartment has all you need apart from your food, and inc washing machine, cleaning items, bedding, towels, wifi, cable TV etc.
Two fans keep you cool any time along with a breeze.
Below, down 180 steps is a reasonable supermarket, and round the other side of the bay a much better one.
You can walk to down town St Georges in 20 mins via The Carenage ( harbour side) or take the level road around via Woolwich Rd and left into Lower Lucas St.
The apartment is located in Mitchells Lane, directly above the Firestation. They test the sirens at 6 am and 6 pm, which is a good way to know the time. For those that like a cool morning walk, it gets one on the road, in a 30 mins loop, Woolwich Rd, Right into Lower Lucas st, and then back via Lowthers Lane and right into Archibald Ave. Then time for breakfast on the patio and watch Grenada come alive.
Will go back for sure.
The view over the bay of St Georges is the best in town, absolutely stunning. The property is large with two good sized bedrooms and two bathrooms. There is a large kitchen/diner and a lovely balcony. The beds are comfortable. The owner arranged transport to and from the airport. All in all perfect.
Had a wonderful 2 week stay in vision view apartment. We had great help from Mike who arranged airport pick up and a hire car from Leon for our stay. He was available for help if needed but otherwise left us to our own devices which was perfect. The apartment is simple and has all amenities - fridge, washing machine etc. A/C in the bedrooms and fans kept us cool, when needed .
Wonderful view from the balcony of the carenage by day of all the boats coming and going and later great sunsets.
A few minutes into town but both routes down we found were down steps. The carenage has a number of restaurants - all good but our favourites were BB's and the schnitzel house. Definitely try LLB delicious soft drink and goat curry when in Grenada and we also ate loads of fabulous seafood.
Short taxi or drive to Grande Anse which has a wonderful beach. We found sunbeds on all the beaches we used, BBC (Morne Rouge) magazine, la sagesse and grande anse - only Grande Anse had umbrellas but there is plenty of shady areas on all beaches mentioned. All these beaches have bars and restaurants - the Aquarium restaurant on magazine beach is closed on Mondays but you can still use sunbeds and bathrooms but you need to take plenty of water and lunch but the advantage is that you almost have the beach to yourself.
Definitely recommend Grenada and visionview
We stayed here from Jan 16 - Feb 17, 2017. Mike the owner picked us up at the airport and took us to the IGA supermarket in Grand Anse( Great selections of foods). He give us a lot info on what to do and where to go. What ever was not working he quickly made right. Lovely person. We were in the Lower Apartment, it has 1 bath and 2 bedrooms. The living room and bathroom is big. Has all the untensils etc you need , even a washing machine. He had a umbrella for the patio, because it gets hot in the afternoon. Nice views of harbour from there. Love to watch all the different boats come in. Use the path by the sport field to go down to the Caranage has less stairs but at night is not lit. Bakery has good cheese buns and coconut muffins.
For groceries, the Food Fair across the Caranage is good. MNIB on Young St is inexpensive fruit and Vegatables.
Thank you Mike for the wonderful stay, we will highly recommend your place for our friends.
Heidi and I stayed at Vision View Apartments from March 1, 2016 to Apr 1, 2016 as the first leg of our Caribbean island hoping tour. Truthfully we didn't know what to expect from Grenada, so we picked it as our first stop so that in case we didn't like it, we had a lot to look forward to. BOY DID WE GET THAT WRONG! Grenada was amazing! Beautiful, warm, and friendly!
And the best part was our home, at Vision View.
Mike, the owner, was an amazing host who always checked up on us to make sure we always had everything we needed. We even had a chance to meet his wife and pick her brain on some local cooking ideas (We made a pigeon pee soup with dumplings!).
And the view.. WOW... I am not exaggerating when I say the view is awesome. You're overlooking the carnage in St Georges up on a hill and you can see tall ships, cruise ships, catamarans and fishing boats coming in and out every day. We used the GIANT patio as our 'corner office' while we were working remotely. Having to say goodbye to that view was the toughest part. Of all the places we've been to in the Caribbean on this trip so far (4 different countries), Grenada was our top choice. We wished we had spent more time there, and it it DEFINITELY a place we want to come back to. Mike, you better keep us saved on WhatsApp! lol
If you're looking for a detailed video walk-though of the home we posted one here: LifeAlive.ca
The house IS about a 100 stairs up form the Carnage if you don't have a car. But in all honesty, it wasn't that bad. It kept us fit, and we didn't feel unsafe walking the stairs between the houses day or night. The buses to the main bus terminal (where you can go anywhere on the island from), as well as Grande Anse beach stop at the bottom of the stairs. We felt totally connected to the whole island form our location even though we didn't have a car. Although, for my birthday we hired one of Mike;s friends as a private driver/guide around the whole island as we stopped at EVERY rum distillery. Happy Birthday indeed! lol IT was very affordable and I know Mike could hook you up with the same.
The grocery stores (2 of them), fresh caught fish from fisherman, the fire station, tourism office, and postal place were also all within a 2-5 minute walk at the bottom of the stairs.
Oh and if you're wondering about the home itself. It was fully stocked in the kitchen, the bathrooms had good water pressure, the bed was good, there were plenty of fans to circulate the breeze form the ocean and there is an AC unit (even though we had no need for it). The TV has some basic cable, and the internet worked very well for us (which was important because we were working remotely from our laptops). The power by the way, is 220; so if you're coming from Canada or the USA you'll need both a power plug converter and a power adapter.
