Attraction details
Owner description: Punta Espada Golf Course is already listed among the worlds finest, with the renowned GolfWeek ranking it as the best golf course in the Caribbean and Mexico. Eight holes play along and over the sea. From all points of Punta Espada, golfers are blessed with extraordinary views of the Caribbean, where the sea contrasts against the emerald fairways and the perfect greens. Challenging stroke play and beauty are entwined in this outstanding par 72 course, which hosted the inaugural PGA Tour’s Champions Tour in April 2008 - The Cap Cana Championship. The annual tournament is televised internationally through the Golf Channel and its license-holding subsidiaries.

“Hard course, but beautiful”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 March 2012

Lots of holes on the water and the most beautiful course we've ever played. At first we didn't like the idea of having a caddie, but they were so helpful. We played another course nearby, but this was much nicer.

If you love golfing you will love this course. They could hold a professional golf tournament there.

“Great golfing”

Beverages on the golf course are expensive.
The greens are good.
We golfed an extra round, but didn't pay full price (bargained for a better fee)

“Almost Heaven”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 March 2012

The scenery alone would be enough...with the bright blue sea contrasting with perfectly green grass with explosions of white foamy water on the volcanic rock. I literally thanked god for the ability to be in this place. I've played the course 6 times over the last 3 years. It is my favorite on the planet.
The design is very fair and the big hazard is wind and water. I imagine the course would be tame without the wind but I have not experienced tameness here. The second hole is a par five from an elevated tee, shaped like a fish hook wrapped around a blue cove, backed by the ocean. Play the par three 16 from where the pro's hit and you are faced with a 225 yard carry on a 250 yard hole. You can get there with less club because a strong wind is at your back. 17 means a short carry over the ocean into the wind to get to the fairway...gut-wrenching and exhilarating.
Conditions are excellent, caddies are good, water balls are common, prices are high, scenery is amazing. I love this course.

“One of the best, if not the best, courses in the Caribbean”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 March 2012

I played Punta Espada after playing at Corales in the DR. Punta Espada was simply fantastic. I am biased in that I enjoy Jack Nicklaus designed courses, so adjust your opinions accordingly. The course was in excellent condition. There are a variety of ocean side holes, best around the Punta Cana area. I can understand why Golf Week rated this the top Caribbean course, as well as former host of a Champions Tour Event.
I will definitely come back to this course. If you had to play only one course around the Punta Cana area, this would be top choice.
