My husband and I love to travel and have been to many resorts, not only in the Dominican Rep., but also Cuba, Mexico and other tropical destinations. However when it comes time for us to plan our vacation each year, we always choose beautiful Punta Cana in the Dominican Rep. This is by far our favourite place to vacation. We’ve stayed at a few different resorts in Punta Cana and all of them were great places with great service, but the last resort that we have stayed at has been by far our most favourite, The Grand Palladium.
If you are unfamiliar with the Grand Palladium I will let you know that it consists of 4 different hotels amongst the same complex. The 4 sections are: the Bavaro, the Punta Cana, the Palace, and the Royal Suites Turquesa (adults only). You have access to all areas of the resort with the exception of the Royal Suites; unless you are a guest of the Royal Suites then you have access to all areas of the resort. Sometimes when people hear that there are 4 different sections to the resort but you do not have access to the adults only, they may think that they are going to be missing out on different restaurants and bars. This is not the case here, there are more than enough bars, restaurants and places to go and see amongst this resort without even heading into the Royal Suites section. We’ve stayed at all of these sections except the Royal Suites, and only because we are usually travelling with our children. All 3 of the hotels that we’ve stayed in at the Grand Palladium have been excellent. We’ve always had great rooms that are very clean. The cleaning staff and chamber maids take great care in keeping this resort very clean and it definitely shows. The gardeners are always working hard which reflects in the beautiful gardens they have. I have never had any problems with the cleanliness of this resort and find that it is always well taken care of. Even the washroom facilities in the main lobbies are always very clean and decorated with the beautiful flowers that you will find spread around the complex. As well the front desk staff has always been very pleasant to deal with and try their best to do anything that we request. One of our favourite staff members at the Grand Palladium is Faustin. I believe that we met Faustin on one of our earlier trips to the Grand Palladium while staying in the Punta Cana section. He is fantastic! Anything that we have ever needed help with he has taken care of it, from needing a bicycle pump for our strollers wheel, to helping us out when we’ve needed an extra nights stay. Faustin has always gone out of his way to make our stay at the Grand Palladium the best.
We’ve always enjoyed the nightly entertainment as well. Whether it is sitting in the lobby listening to the music or heading to the theatre to watch a show, you will always find something to keep you entertained in the evenings. Our favourite performer is of course the guitar player, if you do visit this resort be sure to take the time to sit in the lobby and listen to him play, you will not regret it. Also you will always find the entertainment staff around the pool and beach areas trying to persuade guests to participate in different games and activities during the day. And for those of us who enjoy keeping up with our exercise routines there is a gym on site as well as many aerobics sessions both in the pool and on the pool deck.
As I have mentioned previously we do usually travel with our children and find that this is a very family friendly resort. They do offer a Kid’s Club where you are able to leave your children under the supervision of special staff who are specific to the Kid’s Club area. We have never taken the opportunity to use this service however we have taken a tour of the facility which has just recently gone under renovation. It is a wonderful spot for kids, and all the kids that we have ever seen in there have always looked like they’re having a blast. There is also a kiddie pool in Punta Cana section which has a pirate ship in the middle of the pool. There are slides and water fountains as well in this pool. We have sat by the pool here and watched our kids play for hours, they love it!
If you are going on vacation and do not want to increase your waistline then this may not be the place to visit because the food is great! I am somewhat of a picky eater and heading down south had always made me a little uneasy when it comes to the food, until I stayed here. There is always something good to eat, from chicken wings at the 24 hour Sports Bar to the endless choices at the buffets, you will not go hungry. Our personal favourite however is the Japanese restaurant. The show tables here are very entertaining and the food is the best! I am also a fan of the Italian restaurant, good food and great atmosphere. There is not one restaurant here that we have ever had a complaint about.
I would definitely recommend this resort to someone who was considering a visit without hesitation. As I have said before my husband and I love it here and we’re always looking forward to our next vacation at the Grand Palladium!
