This was our 1st time visiting the Dominican Republic and it won't be the last! We luckily stayed at the Royal Suites, we initially thought it was the lower of the 3 hotels but then figured out it was the best of the 3 sister hotels! We had an amazing time! Our room was always immaculate, maid always had clean towels for us and I honestly was worried about getting things stolen but I had left my iPhone & iPad out one day when the maid came to clean our room and she didn't take anything! After that, I knew I could totally trust them. The rooms are huge and very comfy. We always slept great!
Making reservations was easy for royal suites guests because we found out that the other sister resorts could not make reservations, just the Royal Suites guests! So we had no problem getting into the restaurants. The food was always amazing too, especially the Japanese ! Omg! It was fantastic! Brazilian food wasn't bad but everything else was great!
Plenty of pools to go around and bars...nice swim up bars too! Super clean pools and walk ways..did have a problem always getting towels for the beach or pools though so you might bring your own.
The little taxi cars were great to get around...our favorite driver was Santo! He has huge arms! You can't miss him! Super nice guy...always has a smile on his face. These guys will take you wherever you want to go, if you want ice cream, just tell them and they will take you. One night we said take us to the beach and he literally drove us right to the path on the beach! They are wonderful!
We did do some excursions thru vacation express. We did snuba, parasailing, snorkeling, kissed by a sea lion and regular scuba diving. My favorite was the snuba, where they put a helmet on your head and you walk on the ocean floor, it was awesome! Parasailing was very relaxing and unreal! Will definitely do that again!
All in all we loved everything. Was the perfect vacation that we needed. Drinks were perfect, everyone was super friendly, and yes they did speak English and understand us too, don't know why some reviewers are saying that they didn't speak English? Ingrid at the front desk was a HUGE help to us! We loved her and Santo both! ingrid sent us shopping outside the resort & she tried to teach me a little bit of Spanish too! She is the sweetest! Oh and yes tips do make a big impact! We didn't tip every time but it does help to tip every so often to let them know they are doing a great job.
