Owner description: Swings wide many times daily to allow access to one of the busiest ports in the world. It also separates the two halves of the city.

We were told that once the alarm sounds you have 30 seconds or so to get off the bridge. If it is opening for a cruise ship you could be stuck for an hour on the bridge.

The floating bridge of Willemstad is pretty unique, a must see sight in Curacao, but as it's right in the heart of Willemstad it's hard to miss it anyway.

This is always a nice aspect of a visit to Willemstad. Seeing the town from the middle of the inlet allows one to experience both sides of the inlet views. And if the bridge is open, there is always the ferry!
