Thanks to Ivan, our amazing guide, and the many people and places we were able to experience i felt like we gained a greater insight into Cuba life and culture. Highly recommend this tour - a great way to learn about Cuba. There is no way we could have learned or saw even half of what we did on our own. Ivan had an encyclopedic knowledge of Cuba and was able to answer all questions thoroughly highlighting diverse perspectives.

My husband and I did the Cuban adventures 15 days tour around Cuba from dec 2nd until the 16th 2016. Much to our luck, our tour coincided with the demise of Fidel Castro...

The tour certainly enabled local experiences, however I can certainly attest to the fact that there is no value for the money that we had paid for the tour. I still don't understand exactly what we had paid for on this tour when each activity and excursion had an additional cost.

It was frustrating how expensive this tour eventually became! Cuba is certainly not a cheap country to navigate around and one usually expects tours to cover some sights, however, the cost of the tour with Cuba adventures only covered:
- guesthouse accommodation (approx 40 CUC a night incl breakfast) 13 nights
- tour guide
- bus
- one way flight to Havana from the bottom of the island

Would I recommend Cuba adventures? I'd suggest that before investing in this tour, one should carefully check all costs!

Our group was larger than expected (14) and last minute switch of guide who was doing his first English tour, but it all went off brilliantly. We had a mix of ages, a retired couple, a young family with 2 kids, solos, couples - 20s, 30s, 40s, 60s. At every place there were some top things arranged, and some flexibility to do what people were interested in. There were surprises thrown in too where opportunities arose (eg coffee at a farm house with little walk to waterfall swimming hole). 8 days isn't long to see 4 places and there wasn't much room for down time, so it was an active program, but it didn't feel too rushed or like a packaged group tour at all. Give yourself time in Havana before or after as its not really a Havana tour. Trinidad was my highlight and Vinales was pretty too. Rainer was an excellent guide and worked hard to make sure everyone got an informative, educational and authentic Cuban experience. I was just blown away by how good this was - beyond eye opening, probably life changing. Do it!

Did the 8 day Original Cuba tour with Cuban Adventures - very professional, great tour and Karell was an excellent guide. Whilst went with a few friends, would also suit the single traveller. Music and rum aplenty :)

There were 19 of us, mostly Americans over 50 and six kids ages 7-14, traveling on an 8-day people-to-people tour called "This Cuban Life." We had two tour guides--Diosbel and Lex (Alejandro), and they were fantastic. There was no request too large or question too silly for those two Cubans. We were three nights in Havana, one in Cienfuegos, two in Trinidad, then one more in Havana. Lex took us to an underground disco in a cave outside of Trinidad. and we were merrily dancing the night away when the DJ turned up the lights at about 12:30 am, turned off the music, and said in both Spanish and English: "Our commander in chief (Fidel) has just died. The party is over." On the long, slow walk home (we were all too stunned to look for a taxi), we had an in-depth dialogue with Lex about what this all meant for Cuba and his life. These are experiences you never forget. I should also mention that Diosbel was outstanding--he was mostly with the half of our group who brought children, and they rode in a separate bus and had many separate activities. Dios guided us on our hike to a waterfall outside of Trinidad, and explained the flora and fauna along the way, including which plants his mother had taught him to use for which ailments. Dios is also fantastic with children. You would be hard pressed to find a tour guide elsewhere in the world with an advanced degree in physical education who loves children and has boundless patience, He was more than willing to take them all out for pizza, whining or no, while the adults enjoyed dinner together or went to the Tropicana. Also, one of us fainted from dehydration (through no fault of Cuban Adventures; they always had plenty of water handy to refill our bottles) and Dios left his dinner untouched to be at her side in the ambulance ride to the clinic, throughout the rehydration she got from the excellent Cuban doctor through a drip IV, interpreting for her and her friend seamlessly the to hand her back off to us. These guides go above and beyond expectations to deliver top-notch service in a country that is barely able to handle the megatourism that is descending. Go now; you won't regret it.
