“tourists trap”
Reviewed 11 March 2012

I wouldn't recommend this place. First of all it's pretty far from the center so if you're staying in the city center it's around 10CUC to get there. We arrived at around 10.30 pm but they don't open until 11pm so we had a drink in the small bar there. At 11 they opened and we paid 10CUC to get in (entrance only, no drinks included). The live music only started at 1am only, when we had had already enough. Up to then it was just cds playing. They put some salsa at the beginning and even got to dance a couple of songs (I was there mainly for the music and salsa dancing) but then they started putting pop and commercial music. The dj started with the usual touristy thing: "welcome Italy", "welcome Spain". "welcome Canada" etc. When the band finally got on the stage was formed by a few players and 3 singers that were all about sexy moves and physical appearance.
The worst thing of the place is it's full of young semi-naked Cuban girls and old European men...will let you do the sum!

“Great live music in a rather basic venue”
Reviewed 21 February 2012

Some great Cuban live music, but it starts about 12 midnight so you don't want to go too early. Room was smoky.if you are into music, this is recommended

“Great music and dancing”
Reviewed 5 January 2012

I went here twice during my week in Havana, and loved it. The house band played Thursday night and was tremendous. They played mostly salsa and son, occasionally mambo. And between sets there were house dancers and entertainment doing a floor show. On Friday night they had special guest Paolo FG, who apparently is very well known in Cuba. He was fantastic, had a huge band, back up singers, dancers (the stage was crowded to say the least, but then so was the dance floor). Drinks are reasonably priced, the dancefloor is hopping... all you need for a great evening in Havana. I would recommend that foreign travelers do not go in here alone unless you are looking to be hit up by multiple jinateros, there are a lot. But going in a group we had no problems.

“Great night out”
Reviewed 4 December 2011

Went to the Miramar Casa - not the one located in Central.

Doors open about 23:00 and the band can start anything from 00:00 to 00:30. No hassle at all in the queue - no touts, no pestering by anyone whatsoever and it was a good mix of locals of tourists.

Get there shortly before 23:00, grab a seat and then do what the locals do - order a bottle of rum and some coke and that will keep you going for the evening. Don't know why anyone is going on about the prostitutes - you don't get any bother at all. Mind you, we were obviously enjoying the music, show and the company of good friends too much for anyone else to get a look in!

Perfectly safe place to visit. Enjoy the show. Don't get hung up about what the ladies are wearing - some damn fine legs on show :-) Expect a late night - the show will not start until at least 00:30 (that seems to be a well known local fact). Expect a late finish and also expect to have a lot of fun (if you adopt the right attitude). Plenty of taxis also available outside the club and they don't rip you off either. Loved it.

“Be prepared for a late night, and lots of prostitutes”
Reviewed 10 November 2011

We arrived very late, and the show was well underway. No queues when we arrived, but friends had warned us that queues were possible.
The first thing that struck me, was the sheer numbers of prostitutes. Almost more than patrons.
The performers in the show were great. A solo artist, a troupe of acrobats, salsa dancers, and a band. Really, the cover charge was worth it.
We didn't pay for a bottle of rum in order to sit at a table, but fortunately friends were already there so we sat with them.
The prostitutes were very in your face with the men, regardless of whether they were sitting with their wives!!!!
I recommend coming here, but go other places first in the evening, and come here last to top off your night.
No toilet seats, par for the course in Cuba, and no toilet paper. Always carry tissues with you!!!!!!!!
