Worst hotel I have ever
1.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 13 Apr 2016
Hotel in dire condition. Our bathroom had a rusty ceiling, everything, including the shower and bath dated back to the 70's and in need of repair. When the people in room above showered, water came through the ceiling.
There are 4 lifts; we were on the 15th floor - and for over 12 hours only one lift was functioning. They finally fixed 2 of the lifts, but one lift was out of action our whole stay.
The staff denied we had booked half board, and only agreed we could have breakfast. As it turned out, the food was inedible, so we didn't eat there at all.
The only positives - the bar staff were friendly and made a great mojito .
Plus the hot water was hot! Our cleaning lady was very helpful and a lovely lady.

I appreciate the embargo and politics involved but there is no excuse for the appalling conditions. Havana was very busy and we were unable to rebook elsewhere , otherwise I would have been out of their like a shot! (Obama and the Stones were in residence! !).

We arrived around 4:30 pm and our prepaid group was still waiting for rooms at 10:30. The staff seemed indifferent to our situation. They had overbooked and were reluctant to find other rooms. Our room was fairly clean but worn. The tub had been painted and there were no outlets in the bathroom. Breakfast was okay. They claimed to have a money exchange, but sent us down the block to another hotel. There was no wifi. I know this is Cuba, but this did not reach acceptable standards for a country that has had tourists from other countries for a long time.

Cockroaches, iffy elevators, crumbling dark stairwells, leaky tubs, smelly towels, blown out windows, non-flushing toilets. We nicknamed this place "the bomb shelter". The ocean view was pretty, but the pool was run down and the beach was littered with trash.

    I stayed at Neptuno.

A hotel in appalling condition. Looks like it hasn’t had any proper maintenance in 20-30 years. The external structure is badly in need of painting, the internals fixtures and walls are old and/or mouldy. My room stank of musty mould and water was pouring through the bathroom ceiling from the room above.

It’s a shame cos the you can imagine the place was once good – the pool complex is still fine.

The room rate is low budget but in no way should it get 3 stars that it claims to be.
I read that the hotel has internet but this turns out to be of very limited use. One cannot use one’s own laptop. Guests must use the hotel computer in the downstairs bar only, and the rate is really extortionate. Not practical or affordable.

Hotels in Havana can be a splendid surprise. This was a surprise, in the worst sense of the word. Durty, broken equipment, no elevator with a room on the 13th floor, bad food,... dont go there. Simply horrible. You'd better stay in a tent on the beach.

ok this is officially the worse. We arrived on Friday Feb 20th. with a two day tour group seeing Havana. Having been told our promised 4 star hotel was over booked, it was obvious from the outside this was NOT a 4 star equiv. In fact calling it 1 star is being kind.
DO NOT stay here, if need be sleep in the bus or car. One couple in our group actually did sleep on the bus.
This hotel should be torn down, it's in a condition that suggest, lack of care. In fact not even the owners have any respect for their property.
During the morning surveillance we could see rooms that were stacked with beds and basic junk. Our room was barely useable, and the halls dark and run downed. One elevator was broken down and we were made aware of this fact with the stack of furniture in front.
I've stayed in some "basic" accommodation over my years. Even some hostels I would like to forget, but I would gladly have stayed in any of them instead of this hotel.
I cannot in my wildest dream image any place worse.
This was the worst for me.
