To start, let's just get it out of the way. If you're expecting a modern 5 star hotel like you might find in the USA, Canada, England, etc this hotel isn't for you. Sure the interior could use some updates, but how much are you actually going to be in your room? The hotel grounds are beautiful, with a constant breeze blowing over the Malecon. The old American cars line up outside the front of the hotel every day and are easily hired. The hotel reminded me of the old Florida hotels like The Don Cesar during the early 1990's when it was a little tired.
The location is great, right on the Malecon and only a short ride to Old Havana. Our reservation included breakfast which wasn't terrible, but wasn't great either.
Grab some rum and a cigar, enjoy the breeze and the music drifting up from below on the Malecon during the weekend. Better yet, walk down and join them.More
