Stopped in for a bite on a quiet Wednesday night. Place is really interesting looking, great vibe and view. Enjoyed 2 for 1 drinks at the end of happy hour and ordered dinner - burger and fries and coconut shrimp and fries from the chalkboard menu. Each came with a small salad. Shrimp while good only included 6 very small shrimp and a small order of fries. You have to order at the bar and pick up your food there which was fine. That’s all we got for $100 US including a tip. Seems very pricy even by local standards.

The café is attached to the Moonraker hotel and is in a gorgeous location tucked away on the South coast, a short drive from Oistins, Miami beach et al.

Approaching the place in the dark is quite spectacular, with lighting intertwined among the trees and the ceiling of this wooden platform structure.

The feel of the place is perfect. Everything you'd want from a laid back dinner location. The staff are friendly and welcoming. It all looks great. A glance at the menu on the chalk board suggests some variety, something a little different, and good options for different dietary needs, children, etc.

The drinks are restaurant priced, not café priced and the first disappointment is tasting the pre-mix rum punch that is one of the worst I've tasted on the island. Weak and tasteless. A little nutmeg grated on the top, but no garnish. The kids had fruit punches which they never complain about normally, but it seems they had a similar experience to us. "Why does this one taste different, Dad? It's not as nice." Kids tell this stuff as it is.

Food options are decent, including macaroni pie, fish of the day, pot pies, steak and home made burgers. Food is delivered to the bar and you must collect it, so it's restaurant prices but café service. Not cheap at all and for the money the portion sizes are disappointing. The burgers came served with some basic fries and about a teaspoon of coleslaw, the pot pies were tasty but with a soggy crust, the vegetarian channa main meal would have been a disappointing portion as a starter and the fish was badly cooked.

If the bill had been 50% the size, we'd have declared this one of the best cafés on the island, but the restaurant prices and poor execution (albeit super-friendly) make this a distinctly average restaurant option.

We stayed never door to this place and we enjoyed it on at least six occasions. We met so many fun people from the UK and Canada. The setting is like none other on the island with beautiful palm trees and crashing waves. The drinks are bartenders are excellent and run a very good bar. Happy Hour can't be missed from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. We enjoyed excellent live music twice during the week and this was a great place for a nightcap. The food is the only area this place could improve.

Great venue - location, building, decor, lighting etc etc
Cool staff - laid back
Super atmosphere
Food was OK but not great
But the whole pace is a must-visit
When we were there, it was only opening at 15.00

Surfer's Bay was conveniently located next to our accommodation. The food was average at best and quite expensive, even by Barbados standards. We paid roughly $60 USD for two small plates of shrimp and fries. The service was good and so is the location, but we would only go back for happy hour!
