The Monteray Apartment Hotel is a small hotel featuring a variety of accommodations, primarily studios and one bedroom efficiencies plus two houses on the property. It is situated on the St. Lawrence Gap a short walk from Dover Beach. The hotel has a pool area that is fully separated from street view, with a pool that was kept immaculately clean throughout our stay. The lobby area is pleasant and adjoins the Irie Cafe, a small bar and restaurant where Jamaican dishes can be savoured. We stayed in the Almond Tree House, the larger of two houses on the property. It features three bedrooms, a living room and kitchen, and a spacious verandah area facing a lawn fringed by tropical plants and bushes where one can see hummingbirds every few minutes. Each bedroom had an individual air conditioner. Daily maid service was provided, as were beach towels that could be changed every three days. We found all the staff to be exceptionally friendly and helpful and would certainly return to this very pleasant and unpretentious hotel if we visit Barbados in future.

Stayed for a couple days in December 2017. The staff was very friendly and courteous. Had no problems, from email inquires to arrival, everything went smooth. The room was large, clean and comfortable, The location is quite and close (5mins walk) to public transportation. Lovely, clean pool.

Only inconvenience was no Iron available in the room. I had to go and retrieve it from the reception desk and return after use.

Overall, great deal!

Booked last minute, looking for somewhere cheap but nice. This seemed to fit the bill.

Arrived late, so checked in by the security guard, who isn't the most helpful. Wendy on the main desk however is lovely and friendly.

The apartment was clean and big. Kitchen facilities were average. The shower room and bathroom were clean. No views to speak of. Free WiFi provided.

Didn't use the pool area (didn't see anyone use it) as the beautiful Dover beach was only 2 minutes walk away. Spent everyday down there, hired loungers and went jet ski-ing.

Well located at one end of the Gap, within close range of a wide choice of restaurants. No noisy at all.

Budget accommodation (2 stars?), no frills, did the job.

Brilliant value for money apart-hotel. I booked the 2 bed apartment and let me tell you it wasn't an apartment but a villa at the fraction of a price with full hotel services provided. They even had a full compliment of staff in on Christmas Day and boy do they work hard. Every day the apartment was cleaned and plenty of fresh clean towels we went for nothing. The apartment / villa was called the 'Wendy house' which just added to its charm. The kitchen was well stocked with everything pots, pans, cooking utensils. Everything you could want is there. It's labelled as a 2 bed but we used it as a 3. The back bedroom was is spacious has its own ensuite which I feel used to be a bedroom. It has a fitted wardrobe and a small shower and toilet. This room was perfect for a travel cot. Which meant the baby who is a light sleeper slept better on his own whilst our other two shared the bedroom. One in a proper cot supplied by the hotel and the other had the biggest bed in the world. He loved it!!!

The lovely woman on the front desk is so helpful she goes out of her way to make sure everything is okay for you. She really goes above and beyond. Will help with excursions, where's best to go, any questions you have. She's amazing! The security guard had a bad review on here and I can't understand it, the guy was polite and always helpful.

We have 3 young children (1,2 & 5) and all the staff made a real fuss of them.

This place is just at the beginning of the gap so there's still plenty of things to do within a minutes walk but far enough away from the gap for it not to be loud at night or rowdy. The proper bars start 5 mins away (10 if your with little legs) which is absolutely perfect for holidaymakers with children.

Can't thank the staff enough for giving us a holiday of a lifetime without breaking the bank.
