Located just a short walk from down Hamilton and about a 30 minute ($35) ride from the airport, The Royal Palms was a heavenly oasis for our too brief weekend in Bermuda. From the first call, to make our reservation, to the group bidding us farewell, by the taxi, we felt as though we were part of the family. People did not just answer questions, everyone chatted and took the time to talk to us. This just made the experience all the more memorable. Buffet breakfast (included) was just what we needed and the added boiling crockpot to cook our own eggs was so much fun. A glass of red or white wine available on the comfortable veranda between 6-7pm was another delightful perk. The rooms are all up to date, clean, comfortable with a vase of fresh cut flowers, an HD tv, DVD player, radio with iPod dock and internet cable (complimentary WiFi works throughout the facility). There is very nice china to make coffee/tea in our mini kitchen and a small fridge to keep things cold. Beautiful trees, flowers and plants throughout the property, with many little nooks and crannys to sit in or out of the sun. The pool was just what we needed to cool down in the perfect 84 degree weather. One of the best restaurants (Ascots) is also part of the property and a must to try if you are in the area (see that review). We are already planning our next getaway and cannot wait to return to this paradise.

This was my first trip to Bermuda with my wife. We got a great rate at the Royal Palms and spent two great days there. The hotel is located on the west side of the city of Hamilton, about a 10 minute walk to downtown where all the shops and restaurants are. This is not particularly convenient to the beach for a walk, but easy enough to take a scooter, taxi or bus. It is quite convenient to the town and a really nice location. The location and grounds are gorgeous, the hotel is spotless, and the people are wonderfully nice. On site is one of the best restaurants in Bermuda, Ascots is on site. Breakfast is also wonderful in a quiet and secluded veranda, with a very nice selection of options.

Not only was our stay wonderful, but we forgot an item in our room and then flew home. The hotel staff mailed the item back to us without hesitation and we received it about a week after our stay. This was really above and beyond and representative of the high level of care and service at this hotel. Thank you again for a wonderful stay; it was too short, but we hope to be back.

The Royal Palms is a small hotel located just outside downtown Hamilton. The hotel has an old-timey feel but is well maintained and doesn’t feel outdated at all. The layout is more of a complex than a single building. The main building has dining and a lounge on the 1st floor with rooms on the second floor. There are a couple other unattached buildings with additional rooms. We stayed on the second floor of the main building. Our room was clean and had a kitchenette stocked with plates, utensils, a mini fridge, and a microwave. The room had a widescreen HD TV, probably about 36”, with cable. The only complaint I have about the hotel was ants. Our room had them when we checked in, and we had the room sprayed. This was not a good way to start our vacation, but the hotel staff was helpful and professional about the situation. I can’t speak highly enough about the hotel staff. Everyone was friendly and always willing to answer questions. They even served free wine at 6PM every evening.

The lounge had a computer and printer for guests to use at no charge. It was also the serving area for the complimentary continental breakfast, which was top notch. The pool was clean and never crowded. From the hotel, the walk to downtown Hamilton took less than 15 minutes, with sidewalks the whole way. (This is not common for Bermuda.) The walking route cuts through a residential area that was well lit at night. On the whole, the Royal Palms was well worth the stay, and I would recommend it to anyone traveling to Bermuda. Keep your eye out for special deals on their web site. We saved hundreds of dollars through one of their packages that also included free public transportation and a bottle of wine.

My husband and I stayed here from October 6-12. I had wanted to stay at a resort on the beach, but based on the good reviews we ended up deciding on the Royal Palms..sooooo glad we did!

We had 'endless Summer' rate (a night free), booked a deluxe mini suite and had Room 23/Paget. There are rooms in the 'main house/building', our room was in a cottage-like building within the gardens. I prefer this 'setting' and was excited that this was where are room is/was. It was big, clean, well furnished...with a big closet with safe, nice sized fridge, microwave, and fully stocked cabinets. (a picture of our room is in the brochure)... I felt like I was at home...

Everyone on the staff was friendly, helpful and smiling. I wish I knew everyone's name to give them an individual 'thanks'. Sonya at the front desk is AWESOME, she helped us out with side trips, and advice on Bermuda...John, always sporting his authentic Bermuda shorts 'look' was great (thanks for the wine happy hour on Thursday night!), as well as the very dapper dressed smiling front desk guy who gave us restaurant advice....

The gardens ARE beautiful and very well maintained. The gardeners/maintenance team of 2 were ALWAYS hard at work....The grounds are impeccable, with lots of different (and marked) types of plants and lovely fountains and a small fish pond.

We rented a scooter/moped (places everywhere) for the entire week and toured/drove around the entire island. We visited St. George's (bought perfume here! as well as rum cake and blown glass), Tobacco Bay (you cannot believe the snorkling!), all of the south beaches (Warwick Long Bay is my favorite!), Gibbs Lighthouse (restaurant is great!), the Crystal Caves, Royal Navy dockyards (lots of cruise ship folks, so avoiding isn't all that bad..we took a snorkel/sightseeing trip that left from here), and everywhere....nothing left unseen...

It turned out to be PERFECT that the hotel was in the 'city'. (living in DC, calling Hamilton a 'city' makes me laugh, it is a quaint town)... we were at the beach, etc. during the day (you can go to ANY beach, even the ones that are 'private hotel') and then could walk to great restaurants during the evening.. and sleep in our quite, lovely room at night....

The hotel and Ascot's staff (we ate there twice because it is sooo amazing) learned that this trip was a birthday/wedding anniversary celebration...and had a chilled bottle of champagne put in our room one day... nice, personal touches...

The breakfast was really convenient..and more than enough... home-made breads and muffins, toast, fresh fruit, cheese, ham, hard boiled eggs to make, waffle making station, coffee, tea, juices..etc....

Someone reviewed that the walk into town was 'dangerous'... yes, one way was a bit scary (no sidewalk, winding road) -- so we just walked the other way, which had sidewalks. Another person said that the hotel isn't 'kid friendly'...I honestly don't think that Bermuda as a whole is 'kid friendly'...it's laid-back, no fast-food places, no big movie places, no video/game stores, etc... PLUS you cannot rent cars here, only mopeds, so going anywhere with young children requires an expensive cab-ride..so unless you are loaded and can afford those cabfares everywhere, you would be limited as to what you would see in Bermuda.

I could go on for days...bottom line... we LOVED this hotel.. (many of the beach resorts looked like absolute dumps! I was surprised and shocked)... stay here!

Just returned from another wonderful visit to Bermuda and the Royal Palms! My wife and I have visited Bermuda twice a year for the past few years and have never found a reason to look for an alternative to the Royal Palms. Staff is the best!! Everyone is warm, friendly and always available for a chat. The grounds are well manicured and the gardens have ample seating for a quiet “read” or to just soak up the surroundings. A short walk into Hamilton makes for excellent dining options. We always start with a visit to the Hog Penny (lunch or dinner) and wrap-up our stay with lunch at Bouchee’s. Being close to Hamilton also makes for easy access to both bus/ferry transportation.

We'll be booking our next visit to the Royal Palms very soon.
