This is a nice place to visit. The building is open to the public and interesting to read about the history. The town crier was welcoming people but apparently a dunking is held daily but we missed it. This is also the area to catch the ferries to return to Hamilton.

There was little to see or do on a Saturday in September. The town caters to the cruise ships and most events/historic homes/re-enactments, etc. run during the week and some only during peak season. There was not one sole in period dress.

With that said, if you love history, you will enjoy walking the cobble streets and reading about the different building construction and ownership stories. It is one of the rare places in Bermuda with excellent signage, for an interesting personal walking tour.

The highlight of the Square is the dunking presentation. A man and a woman dressed in colonial costume reenact the discipline of a naughty woman in the 1700s. The gendarme dressed in a tri-corner hat, after much hollering back and forth, proceeds to put the woman into a giant seesaw with a basket, whereupon she lowers her into the water of the bay, dunking her completely. This all in good fun is a hilarious sight to see. Also in the square is a historic Town Hall building worth your time. Plenty of places to sit and enjoy the architecture. Be sure to stop and take it all in.

Nice place to have a wander around and soak up the local atmosphere. There are some old fashioned punishments, such as stocks and a ducking stool - the first one I had ever seen on my travels. Local taxis congregate here.
