There are only three main roads in Bermuda but by far the best scenery and vistas are along South Road. The road passes by most of the best beaches on the island. You can see South Road best on buses which all depart and return to the main us station near City Hall in Hamilton. Trips along South Road by taxi are also a good option.

While many visitors to Bermuda rent scooters, it is a very risky option. Driving on the "wrong" side of the road is challenging enough for North-Americans without the driver trying to rubber-neck the scenery. Visitors to Bermuda should also remember that scooter accident victims are a great source of income for the local hospital.

It is also best to avoid South Road between 8-9:30 am and 4-5:30 pm when the road traffic is the busiest with commuters heading back and forth to work in Hamilton.

We traveled this road a few times in a taxi. bus and also in the Twizy that we had hired. The road has some really good views and there are some stopping places. The road condition isn't too bad. There are only three main roads. Not much traffic either. This road is good to drive

The island has three primary roads: North Shore Road, Middle Road, and South Shore Road. Each has a purpose:
1. North Shore Road: Quickest way to reach Hamilton from the Royal Naval Dockyard.
2. Middle Road: Primary route of travel for the island.
3. South Shore Road: Scenic/beaches.

South Shore Road has the most scenic views on the entire island and cannot be missed when visiting Bermuda. Take a tour that uses this road for great photo opportunities.

We travelled on Bus Route #1 to see this gorgeous stretch. WIll be coming back and renting either a scooter or one of their new electric cars to investigate further. Absolutely breath-taking and worth the ride!

Bermuda has some amazing scenery. Everywhere you look, there are beautiful ocean vistas, colourful frees and flowers and great cliffs surrounding pink beaches. Without a doubt, South Roads the best views bar none. South Road extends most of the southern coast and almost all of it has amazing views of the Atlantic Ocean as well as great beaches and rock and rock out cropings. There are many places along South Road to walk, enjoy a picnic or stop for a meal. A great way to enjoy the drive without risking the rental of a motor scooter I'd to hire a taxi for a few hours or the full day. Sharing the cost with others makes this option very affordable. All the hotel's and taxi firms will help make the arrangements.

You wouldn't want to miss traveling the South Road (it would be hard to miss). The southern beaches are impressive.

Make a point to walk along South Shore Park. This park borders Warwick Long Bay and Horseshoe Bay. Trails link the two and there are many other trails that lead into secluded coves. The park itself is austere, but exploring this area was perhaps my favorite activity in Bermuda.

This is one of the longest roads in Bermuda. We did parts of it to get to different places. One favorite part was the bus ride between crystal caves and spittal pond and then walking along the road for some half hour.

You can see some of the South Road from the bus, but it's better on a moped where you can stop where you want and admire the amazing views. Skittish of a moped? Hire a taxi driver to take you on a tour. The views you see from the pullouts are the views you came to Bermuda to see.

There is nothing that really stood out about the road itself---it is the scenic areas one can access along it. I took a motor scooter rental around much of the island, and South Road was the access to many of the outstanding beaches in Bermuda. One must be careful there, as there are lots of curves and buses to watch out for.

Clearly this road skirts along the southern edge of the island. It has recently been resurfaced at the eastern end so is much better for mopeds now than it was a few years back fewer potholes. For the most part it is quite wide and although not much of it has sidewalk / pavements there is enough space for walkers and pedal cycles. Take care though, it is easy to exceed the speed limit because it is a wider road and police may be lurking in the hedges with the speed camera. The speed limit like the rest of the island is 35 kmph or 22 mph. The road on the west side of the island goes past the south shore beaches and there are some impressive views as the road in many places is quite a bit higher than sea level. It takes slightly longer to reach dockyard going this way but definitely worth it for the views. When I take visitors I will always go west along South road and come back via harbour road - this way the passenger gets the best views of the coastal aspects of Bermuda. Eventually going west South road meets middle road and together they are the only road to the end of the island. As roads go on the island this one is pretty good for surface, non- winding and width.
