We've been there for dinner at our last night on Aruba. The location is excellent, you can't imagine better, because it's literally on the beach, few steps from the surf. We were a quarter to 6 pm, so we caught happy hour and had Long Island Ice Tea and Caribbean Kiss, well made. As a first course we both decided to have their Caribbean Seafood soup, and as main course, we had filet of Grouper and Pina Colada Shrimp. Soup was excellent and must, as they suggested in menu: rich, perfectly spicy, and flavorful, contains different seafood, such as clams, mussels, shrimp, calamari in tomato based stock with fish blended in to make it thick and savory. Filet of Grouper was very good, quite juicy and tender, with dense flesh at the same time, pan fried perfectly. Pina Colada Shrimp was very interesting creation of shrimp (of course!) served in thick and creamy coconut-pineapple sauce which is well balanced in terms of sweetness, flavor, and spiciness. A glass of Mosel Riesling was a good compliment to our main courses.

Tried Matthews, after hearing of the all you can eat rib night on Tuesdays. The service was lackluster, and a bit disorganized. The ribs were good, however the ‘All you can eat’ part is only for the actual ribs! When I asked for more fries and coleslaw I was told that wasn’t included and would be charged 3$!

If there are no other options available then perhaps I would try again, if not I can say there are MUCH better casual, low cost dining options in Aruba.

We ate here since it was the only place that would accommodate 8 people for dinner. I must say that the service was spot on! But the food was very disappointing! I had the Caribbean Shrimp and I really could not eat the shrimp it was sooo spicy! I ended up eating jus the white rice and some of the veggies. Hubby had the steak tips and it literally came with three tips! He was starving after dinner. We order dessert and the tiramisu was the tiniest piece of tiramisu we had ever seem! Basically the ocean view is what brought us there but would not eat there again!

The staff at Matthews are very friendly and helpful. The drinks are unique and the food delicious. We had breakfast and dinner here. The portions were plentiful and tasty. Rib night was enjoyed by my husband. I had filet mignon that was amazing.

Another wonderful meal at Matthews. The staff is great and very accommodating. Even with a huge menu they adjusted a couple of things to please the vegetarians in our group. The fish was fantastic. Kids menu is large and varied and reasonable. The setting is one of the best in Aruba. A must try when visiting Aruba. Also accommodating to allergies.
