After viewing the Atlantic seal colony on Horsey's sandy beach we enjoyed a hearty meal at this traditional pub nearby. The home made fish finger sandwich was a firm favourite, as well as the local crab sandwich. The choice of real ales and ciders was extensive. A great find!

Little pubs like these are very rare and such a privilege to visit. We fancied something light, so hubby had a jacket potato with chilli and cheese and I had a BLT sandwich.

The food was tasty and generous. My sandwich was on lovely bread, with quality thick bacon. Hubby was happy with his, both salads were very tasty with a balsamic dressing that was just right.

If you are dining or not, this is a must if you like a bit of maritime history and good old-fashioned charm.

We came up for a family weekend at the Beer Festival - what a great weekend! Camped in the beer garden, very convenient. The staff were constantly busy but always cheerful, food superb and good-sized portions, the beer selection amazing (I think they were surprised to be 'drunk dry' in the beer tent on Saturday evening - but there were still plenty of delicious cider left with more beers at the bar, and beer stocks were replenished within a couple of hours, with more the next morning). Very relaxed and chilling weekend, just one spot of posturing & shoving early one evening but quickly sorted & soothed. Lots of kids, dogs & happy people - brilliant!

(but campers be warned - North Sea temperatures in the evening!)

Cycled over to the Nelson in our dinner time to get some food. I had the veggie panini and the wife had the ham and mustard sandwich. With the food we had 2 lagers. The food was spot on and the price was reasonable. All in all, a lovely place for food. Well worth a visit.
